Not all prolifers are conservatives, and there is nothing wrong with mentally stable people owning a gun for protection.

A lot has taken place in the last few days in Texas, and we’ve pulled together a few of the best stories to help get you caught up.  Check out our Texas-style round up!
A Texas-Style Roundup of the Ongoing Fight for Women’s Health BY Jacqueline Murphy 01.09.13 This week, Planned Parenthood returned to court, asking a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to uphold a ruling of a federal district court blocking a Texas law that when it took effect was projected to eliminate access to safe, legal abortion for one out of three Texas women in need.

Birth control enables women to complete their education, support themselves financially, manage certain medical conditions, and plan their families. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, millions of women now have access to birth control at no (out-of pocket) cost. Over 40 for-profit companies have sued to make that decision FOR women—because they don’t want to cover this benefit. CLICK the link for the full story!
The Supreme Court will decide whether bosses have the right to deny birth control to their employees based on their personal beliefs. They are taking up Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby & Conestoga Wood Specialties v. Sebelius.

A Deceptive Ballot Measure in Albuquerque

Senator Lindsey Graham may have introduced a bill that would ban abortion after 20 weeks in every state with extremely limited exceptions, but opponents of women’s health are taking a different tactic in New Mexico, trying to impose a city-wide ban in Albuquerque.

It is the first-ever popular referendum before voters, seeking a ban on abortion at 20 weeks, and it’s incredibly unpopular.  People from Albuquerque believe personal medical decisions should remain in the hands of New Mexican woman, with their faith and their families—they shouldn’t let others try to interfere in the private doctor-patient relationship. Unless it is medically necessary. Abortions should not be done! Perverted fetus lovers eh? How about for you, I'd say Demented baby killer.
God forgive us.
You know most abortions are done out of convenience, with less 1% of abortion being due to rape/incest.

Nearly all sexually active women—99%—have used birth control at some point in their lives. It’s basic preventive care, and it's benefited generations of women who have been able to plan their families and accomplish their goals. That’s why today, we’re celebrating The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy’s first annual “Thanks, Birth Control” Day! Click the link for the full story!

In just a few months, Planned Parenthood affiliates, organizers, and volunteers reached out to more than 1.5 million Americans to help them get covered. These folks are amazing—and we think that's a BFD.

The Women’s Health Protection Act would create federal protections against state restrictions on abortion that do not advance women’s health and safety but actually create barriers.

Republicans in the House and Senate should step up and show they care about women's health by supporting these bills and demonstrating that "compassionate conservatism" that the party once so proudly trumpeted.
Republicans Should Get on Board in Protecting Women's Health By Randy Moody 11.18.13 Democrats have once again preempted Republicans on the issue of women's health, this week introducing in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, the Women's Health Protection Act.

With more than 640,000 uninsured people, a legislature controlled by anti-women’s health politicians, and two infamous opponents of Obamacare--Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul--representing the state in the U.S. Senate, getting access to affordable health care in Kentucky may not seem like a cake walk. But things are starting to look up for the state. Why? Because Health Care Hero, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear managed to accept Medicaid Expansion for the benefit of his state’s residents!

The Real Impact of Restrictions in Oklahoma

The last few years have set records for the extent of bad legislation that has been passed to restrict women’s health and access to safe and legal abortion. The state of Oklahoma has been on a race to the bottom when it comes to women’s health for some time now, with a very real and serious impact on the women of the state. Many of these blanket laws not only restrict women’s access to a constitutionally protected right, but they offer no exceptions putting some women and their families into heartbreaking and tragic situations — needing to end a pregnancy for serious medical reasons, but unable to do so. MSNBC covered this complex issue in their recent article, “‘I’m showing my son mercy.’”
