You just can’t beat a cuddle with your BFF - that’s Best Furry Friend! 🐴❤️🐴❤️ #CuteFridayPhoto

When not running rings around their carers, cheeky Miniature Shetlands Josh and Tucker at Redwings Ada Cole are the best of cuddly companions. Aw!

Birthday party season continued in August and September when six of our Adoption Stars celebrated their big days – and we wanted to share some of our favourite moments with you! 🐴🎉🎂🎁

Thank you to everyone who came along to Fox, Zippy, Gulliver Timothy & Cain, Dylan and Minnie’s birthday parties, where the stars were treated to a lovely groom, plenty of cuddles from their visitors and their very own birthday cakes. Yum!

Our last Adoption Star birthday party of the year will take place on Sunday 28th October at Redwings Caldecott when adorable donkey Esther will be turning 11. We hope you can make it!

We’re wishing a happy retirement to one of our most cherished residents – cheeky donkey Denise – who is stepping down from the Redwings Adoption Scheme ❤️❤️❤️

https://www.redwings.org.uk/news-and-views/denise-retires

Denise has recently been diagnosed with Cushing's disease or PPID, a common condition affecting the pituitary gland in older equines.

While the symptoms of Cushing's can often be controlled with medication, Denise has been struggling to maintain her weight and requires careful dietary management for poor teeth. We therefore think she will benefit from a slower pace of life through retiring her from Adoption Star duties.

While retirement means Denise will no longer be available for new adopters, she will continue to keep in touch with her existing sponsors and her supporters are still welcome to spoil her with plenty of fuss and cuddles at Redwings Caldecott, in Norfolk.

Thank you to all of Denise’s adopters and visitors for your fantastic support over the years. Here’s a selection of pics from her time as an Adoption Star, but we would love for you to share yours too! #HappyRetirementDenise

With Halloween approaching, we're helping horse owners take the fright out of dealing with scary wounds and life-threatening colic.

All are welcome to attend our latest evening of free veterinary talks, called Blood and Guts!, at our Aylsham Visitor Centre, north of Norwich, on Tuesday 30th October from 6.30pm.

Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Nicky Jarvis, will be sharing her essential tips on how to keep a horse’s delicate digestive system in top health to ward against frightening cases of colic, and talking through what to do when a scare arises.

Meanwhile, Equine Veterinary Nurse, Louise Gedge, will be explaining why the biggest and bloodiest wounds aren’t always the most serious! She’ll be showing which first-aid techniques can help reduce the risk of infection and make a real difference to a horse’s recovery.

To book your free place on the evening seminar, call 01508 481055 or email education@redwings.co.uk.

Redwings Caldecott, Norfolk, update: As part of some exciting developments taking place at Redwings Caldecott, there will unfortunately be no access to the donkey barn and paddock today (14th September) and Monday (17th September).

We’re very sorry if this causes any inconvenience but want to thank everyone for their understanding as we carry out these important works.

Could you give gorgeous Junior a loving new home? #LoveRehoming

This friendly Welsh Cross is ready to be rehomed through our Guardianship Scheme as a non-ridden companion pony. Eight-year-old Junior is good to catch, groom and lead, and stands nicely to have his hooves picked out. Due to a poor start in life, he can be slightly nervous around new people and in new surroundings, but is very trusting once he gets to know you and would make a lovely companion for your horse or pony.

To find out more about Junior and to apply to be his Guardian, click here - https://www.redwings.org.uk/get-involved/rehoming/rehome-a-rescued-horse/junior?horseID=2979
