if i had to guess it would be the pressure folks feel from the community, and not knowing how to handle it otherwise (so they just pull the ripcord and escape).

imagine feeling locked in to one thing and not being able to explore outside of that, immense holy wars around you as people parse everything you say as scripture, and ultimately left with no freedom to pursue intellectual creativity.
Boredom, realization that life is the same old same old every day and how little control we have.
