Passing along a squad list one of the gents I fly with ran up against in the monroeville PA FFG regionals yesterday. It was an interesting three X-wing squad. Wes with VI. Wedge with opportunist and R2, Luke with opportunist and R2d2.

With VI Wes moves and shoots at 10. So he almost always shoots first and strips tokens, either by the defender using them or via his special ability. That leaves wedge, shooting at 9 with the ability to use opportunist almost every time. +1 attack and -1 agility. Oh and if that wasn't enough, luke bats cleanup at 8. It was pretty lethal, made the top 8 and won the first round after the cut. It wasn't in the championship round so it finished 3rd or 4th but it's a pretty lethal and forgiving 3 ship build.

That would be a fun list as long as you can stay out if being focus fired on.

Hah! And so true! #geekquinox

The new year hasn't really begun. But it will on Monday.

First, there are the holidays, which for most people end with the calendar year and the requisite New Year's Eve celebrations.

But for those of us in tech, in any shape or form, the holidays bleed straight in to CES, which is exciting, fun, and exhausting all at the same time. (and hopefully you were watching +John Pozadzides and +Cali Lewis on #CESlive)

So for tech geeks, the new year doesn't really start until the weekend after CES, and arguably, the first Monday after when some semblance of normalcy resumes.

So, I hereby, declare the weekend after CES to be the end of last year and the start of the Geek New Year and thus wish you all a very Happy #Geekquinox  !

This is a pretty good write up about the difference between big data and business analytics...

orderd a ChormeCast for myself an +Garry Fallon can't wait to try it out.  Not sure it's going to be a change the world smash hit, but it is going to shift the market a bit.

So the big argument against star trek transporters is you would have to scan every molecule to know it's position in order to recreate it on the other side, which is currently impossible.  Well, we're now one small step closer...

So it turns out Anvil launching is a thing.  So much so there's a world champion.  Who knew?

Got to watch some gents play an epic game yesterday after I finished match. Very entertaining but it's clear rounds are going to take a long time. Keeping dials on the cards instead of on the board, plus having the cards in pilot order are a must, otherwise you loose track.

Most of the action ended up on one half of the board with the rebels getting severely out numbered, rolling almost half as many red dice as the empire. In addition Carnor Jax and captain Kagi have an interesting synergy I hadn't thought of. Typically when I go up against Jax I just do target lock since he cancels focus, but Kagi forces you to TL him instead making you attack without modifiers unless you have marksmanship.

Started playing Star Wars: X-Wing, the miniatures game. This site has a great way to make your squads and make sure the points add up and they are compatible.

A bunch of cell phone batteries in my collection of phones are oxidizing. These are just from Blackberry phones. My office is going to be a hazmat spill some day.
