Apologies for the absence of late. I had to rebuild my home PC a few weeks back and I'm now building a client website in a fairly short time frame.  All means I have very little time for social networking at the moment but I hope to be back in a week or two. I've still got plenty of shots to post from the +UK Seaside Photowalk 2013! Hope everyone is keeping well.

Lest we forget

A reshare of an image I posted earlier in the year for Remembrance Sunday in memory of those who have lost their lives in wars around the world.

Evening G+!

Here's another photo from the #dorsetphotowalk2013  this time of Durdle Door at sunrise before the public and hoards of photographers descended ;)  Weather wasn't good and had to take shots in the rain trying my best to shelter the filters.  Took quite a few photos and glad I did as this was the only one without rain drops ruining the shot. Processed using Lightroom and Color Efex Pro 4.

A a landscape photographer, I am always hunting for the perfect weather conditions and as a result my photos have proably become a little samey. The beauty about a photowalk is that it is planned months in advance and you can't choose what weather you get so you have to work with the conditions. During the #dorsetphotowalk2013   I found myself in conditions I would not normally shoot (dull rainy mornings, bright contrasty days) and as a result I've got some photos which feel a little different to my normal shots. I learnt a lot at the Dorset photowalk and enjoyed being in the comapny of so many great photographers that I now call friends :)

Fantastic day at the #dorsetphotowalk2013 with 30 other photographers from all over Europe (and one from South Africa). Took this using a Samsung Galaxy S3 in panorama mode, then edited using Snapseed. I can't really tell how well it came out, sometimes the stitching can be a bit dodgy. Perhaps someone on desktop can let me know? Ta!

DISASTER!!!

On the eve of the #dorsetphotowalk2013  my tripod has only gone and broken for the second time in two weeks.  Except this time, I can't do a quick fix and it will be no good for the coming photowalk weekend. Sigh  :(

I have an old tripod but it's incredibly primitive and only has 2 way movement. I'm thinking I can revitalise it though by getting a decent ball head. So, after a couple of hours of late night research I think I've settled on either the Giottos 1311-652, or for a few quid more the 1300-652 (which can take a greater weight; both get good reviews). Can anyone offer any wise words of wisdom on my ball head idea and/or the Giottos models before I (or more likely my wife!) make a quick dash for the camera shop tomorrow?

Many many thanks, Gez.

Gooday Plussers!

Another shot from the recent Google+ photowalk at the +British Museum. This image is actually a 3 image stack to remove photographers from the shot. Image 1 for the foreground, image 2 for the left side of the main subject and image 3 for the right side. Some minor adjustments made in Lightroom before main processing done in Silver Efex 2.

Cheers, Gez.

Hey plussers!

I was incredibly fortunate to be invited to a Google+ photowalk at the +British Museum last Tuesday.  Organised by +Natalia Cano and with googlers such as +Vic Gundotra +Ade Oshineye +Beth Foster (sporting a pair of #googleglasses ) and many talented photographers in attendance, it was a thoroughly enjoyable event. Over the past few days I've seen some super shots of the museum so I figured it was about time I made a contribution.

I've only taken a couple of shots (literally) because I was trying to get big room shots with no other photographers, cameras or tripods. For this first image of the Rosetta Stone, that required a certain amount of patience: about 10 minutes of it!

Hope you like it!

Okay, so it's been a bit too long since my last post but then my PC has been on the blink again. It's still not right and is constantly freezing which is incredibly frustrating. I'm lucky to get this far and on to G+ so I'm going to quickly post this shot before my PC freezes!
