Operation: Social Santa was created through the idea that giving is the greatest gift one person can give during the Holidays. Since we now live in a time where communication is both social and boundless, it is our mission to build a collaborative effort among social media driven communities to bring the gift of the holidays to those who need it most.
Operation: Social Santa is comprised of one-night holiday parties organized by volunteers where professionals and community members are able to celebrate the holidays and donate toys to benefit underprivileged children in their area.
Originally named Tweet Drive, Operation: Social Santa was founded in October, 2010 by Temple University student and social entrepreneur, Harrison Kratz. After some rapid planning, Tweet Drive was held in 24 cities and collected about 2,000 toys in its first holiday campaign.
Building upon that initial success, the we went international in 2011 to hold events in 38 cities around the world while collecting 4,200 toys. Now that we are officially Operation: Social Santa, we are looking forward to building this collaborative effort with the help of our volunteers, partners, and champions.
