The debate on canon is actually very serious. I'm not sure if the Gospels of Judas or Thomas are as important. Actually, the deuterocanonicals (that currently divide Christians) and books that are currently INCLUDED in the Bible like Revelation (a book Martin Luther, like many early church fathers considered cutting out) were important matters of controversy in the early Church and throughout the history of Christendom.

Thanks for the cite!
I wrote this 17 page paper for the first class in my Humanities Masters Program and thought it would be a waste to have only the professor and I read it, so I'm sharing it with the world here. There are a few comicbook refere...

Even though I don't support either side in this debate I think Chomsky makes a good and funny point in his Luxembourg example.

Both sides were creeps and Chomsky seems sympathetic to the left-leaning creeps. He's calling them "social reformers."

SM is an atheist. As far as he is concerned, the brain is just a bag of chemicals. He's also, as a libertarian, a drug legalizer. I understand and in fact endorse the notion that "mental illness" is metaphorical in the sense that it's not empirically testable like heart disease or cancer. One can say the same thing about such concepts as "love" and sexual attraction. I think he errs in cherry picking and attacking the drugs that affect brain chemistry and in fact help folks feel better about their "life problems." In this sense, SSRIs, xanax and the like can be analogized to drinking in moderation and exercising to relieve stress, sleep better, etc.

I don't think Howard's representation accurately described the tax law.

Sexuality does exist on a spectrum. Even if Kinsey is "evil" and otherwise "full of it," a broken clock is right twice a day. The notion that for some sexuality is fluid is consistent with the notion of a continuum. Among other logical fallacies, this video suffers from the fallacy of what is true for one, or of some in a subset is true of all in the group. It's like finding a light skinned black person and concluding all blacks are light skinned.

Both of the sides in this conflict were corrupt authoritarian (left leaning whom Chomsky defends and right leading whom Silber defends) types who didn't respect civil and political rights. I don't think America should have been involved. And I thank God that evil corrupt communism fell just a few years later on 11/09/89.

"We expose their terror and they expose ours; both are beneficial to the truthseekers."

The notion that America and the other democratic-capitalist nations have committed massacres on par with what the communists have is, to use Chomsky's words "really astonishing." There is no comparison. There are crimes of America, et al. But they are "undetectable" as compared to the crimes of the communists as again Chomsky might word it (in the context he does in the video).

It's a shame that in order to defeat the evil of the Axis power we had to ally with Stalin whose administration killed more than upwards of 30 million people.

Go ahead. Try saying certain things sympathetic to Stalin, Mao., etc. It's no better than what Marge Schott did when she noted what good Hitler did before the Holocaust.

Pastor Anderson and John Hagee are both going to Purgatory when they pass and their punishment is they will have to share a cell or dorm room together for X number of years.

First, it is found in the Bible -- the whole Bible, that is (read 2 Maccabees, which is part of the Bible even though the Reformers took it out because they didn't like it). Second, how does the debt get wiped away? What is the process? That's what purgatory is about (and why CS Lewis believed in it).
