A long, long time ago at Munich central station: "It's late on a Friday afternoon … screw this! I'll do the remaining 30m of sleepers on Monday."

Pending publication, but it sounds like WPA2, the encryption of wireless networks, has been broken.

"The impact of exploiting these vulnerabilities includes decryption, packet replay, TCP connection hijacking, HTTP content injection, and others. Note that as protocol-level issues, most or all correct implementations of the standard will be affected."

Yes, you shouldn't trust the link layer – if only because it rests on a shared key that isn't secret (read: we all share willingly with guests in our house). But even DV certificates are annoying to get for infrastructure that's not (supposed to be) exposed publicly. And don't pretend that your ${technologically illiterate relatives}'s wifi router had an admin password set if it weren't for you …

New in icestat: information about the internet uplink(s).

Unfortunately it works very spotty, since the Bahn website is returned frequently instead of the API – including the mismatching TLS certificate. According to the DB twitter account, this is a known problem and the appropriate team is fixing it. Also, clear your browser cache, because why not.

Sources for icestat are on Github: https://github.com/octo/icestat
