The space is perfect. The service was very good.. The food is all over the place, though. Everything was tasty, but a couple of puzzling mistakes were a big turn-off. Starting with the bread and butter... the bread was like a rock. I literally cut the roof of my mouth trying to chew the first bite. Not even the center was soft. The butter was in a cute little square cup, deliciously herbed; but it was served cold, a big no-no, making it hard to spread on the cold bread. The handmade pasta dish was more like olive oil soup. Ugh... so much oil it was just heavy and gross. I should have sent it back, but there were some great flavors under all that oil and I powered through because I was hungry. The fish dishes were good, but had so many different ingredients that it was hard to tell what was going on. It all tasted good, but it could have been better if they'd focused on fewer ingredients that really complimented each other. Bottom line: I had an okay meal and there were some good dishes and flavors, but the rock-hard bread and oil-soup pasta were such rookie mistakes that I left confused as to how an otherwise decent restaurant could screw up like that. They're easy things to fix, so I may give them one more chance in a couple of months.

I went on March 2nd, the first friday of the new extended happy hour plus a menu change. Bartender remained attentive as the bar filled up with the what seemed like all of Philly. I started with the oysters, which were in an awesome light and tangy mignonette sauce. Then I had the pork belly sliders on biscuits. The homemade biscuits were a little dry, but helped to distribute the heat of the roasted chiles. The tuna panzanella was unbalanced and too acidic with both pickled cherry tomatoes AND vinaigrette. I had some sort of pear tart for dessert which was not very memorable, but helped to end the meal on a good note. The happy hour red wine was good. I would try this restaurant again. They have some good seafood dishes. I remember they had like a "fish with milk" kind of dish, that was a good one.
