Lost passport on a Sunday 1 day before flight back home through São Paulo. Went at 8am to US Consulate in Rio to see if I could get passport within 24 hours and was worried Id need to rebook my whole flight. After some miscommunication/language barriers with outside staff they helped me get passport photos two blocks away and a woman in a tent to hold my phone for 8 reals. Once inside the staff went far above and beyond in making sure to assist me best they could based on the hundreds of people they were already servicing applying for Visas to the USA. After filling out two forms (remember your important numbers and names people!), $135 and 45 mins later the consulate had a new passport ready for me and was ready to fly back home to New York. I can't thank the team at the Rio consulate enough. Amazing medal deserving team.
