+Ray OfMinneapolis Thanks for the info.  Sounds like you've got a great thing going there.  Have you ever looked into CSA [community supported agriculture]?  Might be a way to bridge the gap until you get contracts for restaurants.  I suggest growing peapods too- one of the few things other than greens that can possibly get 2 crops in a season in MN., plus they are very prolific , can be grown in a small space[+ verticle],  fetch a high price, and easily frozen.   As for a survival situation... I hear woodchuck stew is pretty tasty- there's a recipie for it in "Joy of Cooking"  ;-)

An excellent little hiking park full of wooded, hilly tails, and fantastic sunset views of South Twin Lake. Fishing, wildlife, and nature photography. Quiet friendly environment.

I truly enjoyed a veggie Omelet and a cup of coffee one recent Saturday morning. Sitting in the front, for a picture window view of main street Amery, I was comfortable and pleased. I relaxed and used the wifi to read my email while waiting. And even though there was a large church group meeting in back, service was excellent and timely. My only criticism would be portion size. I've have huge fulfilling veggie omelets before.. for 7 or 8 bucks, ya kinda want more then a 2 egg deal. I had to order an extra egg and toast, after the main dish, because I was still hungry! In the end, I got out of there for 15 bucks and had a great morning. It's a fine place to visit.

Awesome and friendly staff (and Board of Directors) really make this humble thrift shop a vital center of the community. The merch could be changed out a bit more.. but their location in a historic building makes this store one of a kind.
