The food here is just amazing. The chicken was very tasty, and I enjoyed having the egg mixed in. Something I have had never had before!! The sauce was good, but the spiciness definitely increased as you kept eating it! I could eat this everyday!!

We definitely don't object to you eating here every day, Nick! So glad you enjoyed everything. Love to see you again soon. -Gilberto

Chichen Itza is my favorite place to eat in Mercado La Paloma. Their dishes are straight from the Yucatan Peninsula and their juicy cochinita pibil, whether served as a taco or wrapped in a palm leaf, is the best you'll find in LA. Their traditional juices like guanabana are tasty and sweet with no added sugar. If you go at lunchtime, expect a line but don't fear as it moves quickly.

You are just too kind, Michael! Thanks so much for the kind words. Hope to see you soon. -Gilberto

This may be one of a kind in LA. Its Yucatan cuisine but they are trying to fight the health problems East LA is facing. They use stuff like bean tamales and shredded turkey to keep things healthy. Its a pretty good spot. Parking is pretty bad.
Response from the owner - a year ago
Thanks for spreading the word about us, Michael! Glad you enjoy our food and support the use of healthy ingredients in our cooking. I know the parking can be frustrating sometimes, but that's unfortunately out of our control. I hope you'll come back and dine with us again soon! -All the best, Gilberto

I was at the museum and me and my family decided to try out a new restaurant around the area. So I searched on Google. Found a lot of different places but none really grabbed my attention. The name stood out on this one and also that it was yucatecan food. I've never had yucatecan before, so I wanted to try it out. It took a while to order because they we're filming. Once we we're able to order, we ordered the cochinita pibil and some tacos of pollo and a torta with some aguas de Jamaica. Everything was Delicious. I ate so good that afternoon. I was full and Satisfied! I will definitely stop by again when I visit L.A. Thank You for the great food! o∩_∩o

This gem of an eatery is a gift to LA's Mexican palate. A best kept secret to some, a food haven where you'd least expect it, Chichen Itza is located in Central LA, just east of USC's campus, at Mercado La Paloma, a dynamic and vibrant modern marketplace and community space. This restaurant is, to me, the highlight of the small businesses and eateries they have to offer. As an LA Native and lover of Mexican cuisine, these fresh, soulful, carefully prepared offerings are beyond my expectations. A perfect balance of flavor, refreshment, and richness, it's a style of Mexican cuisine you'll rarely get a chance to experience. One of my favorite eats in town.
