Focus Home Interactive and Spiders reveal in video their new RPG: GreedFall

GreedFall is the latest RPG from Spiders, currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Revealed at "le What's Next de Focus" event last week, GreedFall today unveil a first teaser trailer, hinting at the 17th century setting of the game and its ambiance embedded in magic. As showcased in this video, Greedfall aims for a very unique visual identity, inspired by Baroque art from 17th Century Europe, depicting grandiose sceneries in muted warm colors and dark undertones.

Explore a fresh new world as you set foot - alongside many other settlers, mercenaries and treasure hunters - on a remote island seeping with magic, rumored to be filled with riches and lost secrets. A grand journey filled with mystery follows, as you find yourself in the middle of ever-increasing tensions between the invading settlers and the locals, protected by supernatural beings, manifestation of the island’s earthly magic.

With a strong focus on its core RPG identity, GreedFall follows Spiders' experience in building intricate worlds filled with mysteries to discover, weaving deep character interactions, and offering players great freedom to achieve quests and objectives in a multitude of different ways – through combat of course, but also through diplomacy, deception or stealth. The island of GreedFall is a living, ever-evolving world. Your actions, from seemingly trivial choices to the most important political decisions, will influence and affect its course as well as the relationship between the different factions established on the island.

"With GreedFall, Spiders is happy to renew its collaboration with Focus Home Interactive, our publisher for many years. The relationship of trust and transparency we have been developing together makes us particularly confident about the creation of this new project, more ambitious than all our past productions. Few publishers have the ability to support totally distinctive games like GreedFall and this secures us in our belief that we will manage with Focus Home Interactive to make this experience in a brand new universe both unique and unforgettable", says Jehanne Rousseau, CEO of Spiders.

"We are happy to once again support the studio, directed by Jehanne Rousseau, in a new collaboration. If Spiders’ titles could have divided gamers in the past, they are gathering a bigger and bigger audience that enjoys the studios approach to the role-playing genre, allowing Spiders to improve game after game. Through this new collaboration, the studio will have more means to fully achieve its ambition. Thanks to its theme, its universe and its promise, Spiders’ GreedFall will be a game to closely follow, for RPG lovers", says Cédric Lagarrigue, President of Focus Home Interactive.

GreedFall is planned for release in 2018. We will reveal more about the game the weeks and months to come.

Technomancer: everything you need to know to survive on Mars in a new gameplay trailer

The Technomancer, the sci-fi RPG set on Mars, releases on June 28 and will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

With its terraforming aborted hundreds of years ago, and a murderous sun to boot, the Red Planet isn't exactly a hospitable place, and every nook and cranny of the forsaken planet holds deadly, lurking threats. Just like these hybrid creatures roaming the canyons of Mars, originally bioengineered by the first settlers from the genetic makeup of animals found on Earth. But the other human survivors can be just as dangerous. Ever since Mars got isolated from Earth, multiple factions have risen, desperate and determined to secure whatever power they may get hold of. You will be able to befriend these factions depending on your actions and your choices throughout the story.

Hopefully, you have all the tools to survive this harsh environment. If a diplomatic or a stealthy approach can be help escaping from a perilous situation, sometimes combat is the only way, and the use of your devastating Technomancer powers will be indispensable. Each of your powers can be upgraded by spending points in the skill tree, but they also all have access to 2 mutually exclusive upgrades, changing the way the power behave. These upgrades, coupled with your handpicked special talents and your choice of equipment and crafting components, will heavily influence your combat strategy, and overall playstyle.

Your technomancy powers compliment your combat stance of choice: combat with the Staff, signature of a Technomancer. With a blade and gun, mark of a rogue. Or, mace and shield, the weapons favoured by soldiers. Just like for Technomancy, each of these three stances has its own skill tree, where you can gain new skills, but also improve them through different upgrade paths.

Upgrading your arsenal will be equally important. You will find, loot and buy better weapons and armor. Each has its own bonuses, and some of them also have crafting slots, allowing you to further improve their stats according to your preferences and playstyle. You'll be able to improve damage, resistance, as well as add various special effects such as disruption, resistance to specific damage types, energy regeneration, and more. Improving your crafting talent and learning new construction plans will let you craft more powerful gear.

The surprising creatures of The Technomancer come to life in a new series of screenshots

The Technomancer offers a rich and varied bestiary, that you will come across and confront in combat during your journey on Mars. In this new series of screenshots, discover a few of these strange creatures conceived and brought to life by the talented teams at Spiders studios.

Although Mars’ red surface is naturally barren and completely devoid of life, hundreds of years of human civilization has led to the creation and evolution of many hybrid species built from the genetic makeup of animals found on Earth. What was first an exercise to create an ecosystem to support the original settlers eventually grew out of control, following the cataclysm that wiped most settlers and isolated Mars from Earth. Mutations and accelerated evolution forged what little life there was into threatening beasts scattered all over the red planet.

While originally bred as domestic animals, the harsh living conditions on Mars led these creatures to develop effective defense mechanisms - poison, camouflage, brute force... The longer Mars is cut off from Earth, the more dangerous Mars’ new wildlife grows. They will aggressively defend their territory should you trespass it.

Today's screenshots show a few of these creatures. Mastery of The Technomancer’s visceral combat styles and electrical powers should help you survive the bizarre hybrid species of Mars!

Your quest on Mars begins early 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox one and PC!
