To go along with that article I linked yesterday. Our house has been advertising free for many years now, and it is wonderful. Same goes for watching things when we want, not on some network's preprogrammed schedule.

I use it on a PC that's hooked to the TV and it works great. I even have a Windows Media remote that I was given with a laptop purchase sometime in 2008 that controls all its functionalities. The best part is that with the hulu player on a PC, there's no issues with shows that aren't licensed for TV viewing (e.g. some anime and a few network shows that are 'PC Only')

I can push music from my phone to the car stereo without having to fuck with cables. Also can make calls with it, but I don't ever make phone calls so that's not a big deal.

Every time Mr number is updated I hate it more. This app is a pile of shit, but its the only one I've found that actually blocks calls. Does anyone know of a better app?

Stupid redis question! Is there a speed advantage to using MULTI/EXEC when making a bunch of queries? I don't particularly care about atomicity (is that a word?)

I'm curious, now, +Chris Soyars. I thought Redis was pretty darn good, along with MongoDB. I'm sure there are a few things it lacks when compared to a traditional relational db, but... I thought it was good. I haven't built anything with it, though.

All these people posting about TV's problems lately. I guess I'm pessimistic, I don't expect the studios to ever figure this shit out. Oh wells, more money for me to put into savings instead.

This pretty much sums up why I still download TV shows. Cable simply refuses to compete, and paying $40/show/season on itunes for DRMful versions is not reasonable to me.

If you use chrome and gmail every day, do this right fucking now. Screw all those extensions that don't work 100% of the time.

Yeah I'm a huge fan of Thunderbird gmail IMAP. soooo easy managing 4 gmail accounts from it. I literally can not use Gmail web interface or I'd have no idea where all my mails are.

I concur - regardless of any opinions (the customers' or otherwise) of the company, there's a lot to be said for having a damned work ethic, and I have to think that putting for the effort for good customer service is of mounting importance. The chance to personally interact with someone who is (hopefully) an expert in the products they're selling is one of the few advantages brick-and-mortar has over online shopping, aside from immediacy.
