Humph! At least Texas has a task force to go after these bastards. California has "sanctuary" cities!.... A murder suspect who was arrested in Austin, Texas, Tuesday is a Mexican man who has been deported three times from the U.S.
Authorities deported Juan Navarro Rios in 1996, 2009, and 2014. Reasons for Rios’ deportations include an unspecified felony conviction, claiming to be a U.S. citizen, and for coming back to the U.S. after being previously deported.
“This is an example of the worst of the worst that we go after on a daily basis,” said Hector Gomez, supervisory deputy marshal of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Rios, 40, is wanted for having allegedly shot and killed two people driving down the road ans then kidnapping a landscaper.
The illegal immigrant has also been convicted of assault and hindering prosecution. Rios had a showdown with the police at his sister’s apartment complex where authorities caught him as he tried to run away from them. Before running away though, Rios started a fire in his sister’s place and broke into the neighboring apartment while fleeing a SWAT team’s pursuit.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) put an immigration detainer on Rios, meaning that they don’t want to prevent him from making bail. “This is an indictment against the federal government’s failure to police the border and another reason that Texas must continue to focus on border security,” Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said of Rios’ ability to get back into the U.S. despite multiple previous deportations.
