Dishes seem lost, different flavors on my plate but none complimented each other, matter of fact the food is just not that good. The only good thing about this place is the service. It was excellent. They might want to reevaluate the menu and being on some outside services to rate them.

Over done and over priced. Went back with friends and I think it has gotten worse

Went here for lunch today, we had the empanadas (which were fantastic!) Blue corn tamales with BBQ duck (also really good) and lime flan for dessert. Everything was very delicious and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. Wait staff were very attentive and friendly.

A welcoming and tasty place! Portions were reasonable, flavors were good, and the selection of main dishes is impressive; diverse without being overwhelming (everything fits on two pages). Service was outstanding: warm, attentive, and helpful. Food was very good. I loved my duck and goat cheese enchilada and also liked the generous helping of duck breast on the side. My Campfire drink was stellar; just the right strength and balance of flavors. The banana cream pie was okay, but I would have preferred a little more banana and a little less sweetness and cream; with the crust and intense sugaryness, it felt altogether a bit too heavy for me. All and all, I'd be delighted to return here. Particularly with the fine service this place offers a strong value and made for a very enjoyable and comfortable evening for me and my colleagues.

The good: We are from Ausitn Texas and are mexican food connoisseurs, have done countless salsa taste tests and Zolo's salsa sampler is up to par with some of Austin excellent mexican restaurants. This is saying a ton. The food also was tasty and compared to other mexican restaurants in Boulder, was a cut above the rest. The bad: Being from Austin and having worked as a bartender in a mexican restaurant back in the day, we are also margarita connoisseurs and although they had an amazing selection (the best in town) they didn't know how to do much with it. I tried two margaritas from their menu and they just lacked the taste of a good margarita because they couldn't get the combination of ingredients right. Then I had them just make one from my own ingredients and the waitress was reluctant to do it. Now I know why. It was worse than the menu margaritas. The worst: We had really bad experience with waitress. She basically ruined our experience because she was defensive when asking for basic things like silverwear or askng where are margaritas were. (it took more than 10 minutes to get our first drink order) Then after showing our frustration with the waitress repeated dissapointments. The manager came over and ask in a defensive voics "Is there a problem?" That made us uncomfortable because there was no geniuine question of curiosity to make something right, rather it felt like an excusatory "hey trouble makers, cool it". When we said the food was great but we are experiencing some anomolies with the waitress. He said, "Well I'm glad everything is great!" and left. WTF. Anyway, it was such a lousy experience when spent over $200 that we will never go back.

We love Zolo Grill. Love every restaurant in the Big Red F group. The Bitter Bar, The West End etc. However on the last few occasions that we have visited Zolo we were very unhappy with the bar staff. Unless you are a friend of the bar staff/bar tender, or go there every other day, you will not receive the same service as they do. We weren't asked for refills of water, drinks, we ordered food - he didn't even ask if our food was to our liking, instead he spent his whole time talking to a couple whom he seemed to know well and spent his whole time asking them if they needed water, refills. Very disappointed.
