Santa Rosa District Elections Public Hearings Resume

As many of you who stay up with our Civic Newsletter remember, the City of Santa Rosa is working on transitioning from at-large to district elections for the November 2018 election. The required public hearing process began in early October last year, but were postponed due to the regional wildfires.

Beginning TODAY, this process will resume and the community's input is needed to ensure that the best possible outcome is achieved!

WHY is this important? Once separated into districts, Santa Rosans will have a specific council member who will be accountable for the district they live in and who, like them, is a resident of the district and would best know its needs (in theory). Community participation in the process ensures that districts are drawn in a manner that keeps similar communities together and neighborhoods (such as the Ridgway Historic District) in one district, not split up.

For more information, please visit the City of Santa Rosa's District Elections page: srcity.org/districtelections.
