Dr. Celestian was just awarded an NSF EPSCoR grant titled:

Advancing porous #nanomaterials for #basic #energy science, #environmental #security, and #materials #genomics

This study will explore fundamental molecular processes that govern synthesis and ion diffusion in porous nanomaterial titanium silicates, zirconium silicates, and hafnium silicates. Those materials are a suite of important natural and engineered mixed polyhedral porous frameworks that permit a variety of catalytic and ion separation processes with important industrial and energy-related applications. Much of this work will involve time-resolved X-ray and neutron diffraction, time-resolved Raman spectroscopy, and integrated molecular dynamics simulations to analyze processes occurring during ion diffusion and crystallization of these porous nanomaterials.

This grant will support undergraduate student research and travel.
