Brought the generator bicycle to Bitterroot Elementary for Science Night. It has lasted for 3 years of Chicks in Science and 2 years at Science Night. I bet it has been ridden well over 1000 times. It is still going strong, and has lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. It is normally stored outside. You can see how it is built on the Make Magazine website; search Generator Bicycle.
