What makes artificial intelligence artificial. Is intelligence tainted by its source?

+A B I think so, if the AI are taught what "red" is in a binary code. The AI optical censors are receiving information, processes it into bits and bytes and into binary code, compares it to the code for colours, and will produce its answer: red! But as with humans, i think, if you teach a child what I perceive as red, is green, then the child will believe the color is "green".14w
One other thing I often think about is the "failure" or "malfunction" of humans to cope with stressors or pathological diseases. (Don't know which word to use, and often coping mechanisms are good) I mean depression, OCD, paranoia and schizophrenia, borderline, PTSD and so on. If that is a part of "being" human, then "machines ", AI; they need to react to stressors, of course different from AI to AI like humans, depending on stressors and ressources and coping mechanisms, but I believe that it is a big part of being human. Could you imagine an AI with a depression or a "personal disorder" or PTSD? Sure, the machine might blow up and loose its ability to process "information", but in a more mechanical way and not with emotions and emotional reactions. Any thoughts on this?14w
+Lars Præst I think you are spot on. I marvel at the todays state of medical and mechanical advancement. I do believe we are still in the stone ages when it comes to real understanding of things like the immune system or how intelligence works. I feel like we are using rock hammers to try to build a spaceship when it comes to A.I. and I am reasonably certain the first A.I. will have mental problems. We have to start somewhere, though. Also I will try to formulate 'what seperates a mechanical organism from a biologic one' as a similiar question. I think these are questions philosophy should really be examining because I believe such distinctions are close at hand.14w

I once read this quote: "It is not AI we should worry about, it is artificial idiocracy!"14w
