Jose was thrilled to meet Francis Ford Coppola and world renowned mezzo-soprano Carla Dirlikov at the kick-off Salon evening of The El Camino Project.
A highlight of the evening was Cristina Pato's gaita performance - proving in heart moving and mind blowing fashion that "bag pipes" have origins in Galacia.

With the opening of the Cuban Embassy today, performing Cuban Prima Ballerina Assoluta’s Giselle in October calls for a celebration of diversity! Ballet San Jose will be the first American Ballet Company to perform in collaboration with Cuba. Did we mention that José Manuel Carreño AND his brother Yoel Carreño (Principal dancer from National Ballet of Norway as our Guest artist) will BOTH be performing in select performances as well? This should be nothing short of amazing since it’s the first time the two brothers will be dancing on the same stage. History in the making! Make sure to renew or get your subscription and GROUP TICKETS today at: https://tickets.balletsj.org/account/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2Fsubscription%2Frenewal.aspx

"Sometimes I feel like my brain is on fire and the only way to put the fire out is by daydreaming about choreography. Choreographing is how I go places I have never been before, and, many times, could not even imagine exist. Like people might have felt a few centuries ago when traveling started without knowing where it would end up." - Ohad Naharin, Dance Magazine, 2013
Do you dream in choreography? Take advantage of our early bird discount, and sign up for our new CHOREOGRAPHY WORKSHOP by July 31 for $100 off tuition. On Saturdays, March-May 2016, budding choreographers will be mentored by renowned choreography professor Fred Mathews. Students will develop choreographic skills and create their own work, to be shown in an
in-house showing. Call 408.288.2820 x223 or email school@balletsj.org for more info and to register

Imagine yourself at work. Now, imagine having to do that work without the sense of sight. Difficult, right? Did you know that Alicia Alonso did her work with the utmost precision even as she slowly lost her ability to see? Don’t believe us, just watch: https://youtu.be/fnT41OOsGd0

Please like this page (https://www.facebook.com/GiselleProject?fref=ts) to find out more about the history of how we are able to bring Cuba’s Giselle to America!
