What a late-July Windows 10 GA might mean.
Lots of sources on the Web are reporting on a comment that Lisa Siu, CEO of AMD, let slip during the Q&A portion of a recent earnings call last Friday, which I reproduce here in its entirety: What we also are factoring in is, you know, with the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory ...

"The main reason people control the flow of information is probably because it works." - Matt Heusser
Have you ever noticed that people can get really dumb during negotiations? I'm taking too dumb to believe. Professionally dumb. There was, for example, the time I became a project manager, promoted from pay grade 220 to 240, and my supervisor wasn't sure it was actually a promotion. (It was, I looked it up.) Or the time we bid to take over from another company, and the hiring manager didn't know how much he was paying the other company. ("I...

Mobility and its influence on the UC market was a focal point of Google's keynote address last month at Enterprise Connect. Google for Work's technology evangelist Adam Swidler said mobile devices are causing a "wonderful disr...

Advice to product teams – Think “API First”.
A few weeks back, a friend of mine asked me to help him create some live demos for a big event that his company had coming up. As with any demo, we spent some time focused on the target audience, what we expected of their knowledge background, and then the actual story that we wanted to tell. System Refresh leaves interesting items undone.
In experimenting with a full system recovery recently on my Microsoft Surface Pro 3, I've been trying various methods to get from a current bad system state to a current good one. But while a recovery from a system image produces a complete restore of the system at the time of its capture, refreshing that system to roughly the same point in time still falls a wee bit short of what I would call a full and complete recovery. "What's missing?" you a...
