Our beloved Lois Hainsworth slipped out to the Abhá Kingdom yesterday (8Oct16). Her loving and dedicated service in the development of the early years of Uganda Bahá’í Community cannot be easily described due to the multiple and extensive work that she applied to all aspects of the community.
Among the most important are those associated with the construction of the Mother Temple of Africa where she served on its management committee. With construction done, she applied her excellent skill in music to develop the first Temple choir. This wonderful record of service is truly historic and will always remain closely associated with the earliest years of the House of Worship.
More of her remarkable life can be found at this link: http://news.bahai.org/story/273

How excellent, how honourable is man if he arises to fulfil his responsibilities; how wretched and contemptible, if he shuts his eyes to the welfare of society and wastes his precious life in pursuing his own selfish interests and personal advantages. Supreme happiness is man's, and he beholds the signs of God in the world and in the human soul, if he urges on the steed of high endeavour in the arena of civilization and justice.

"The Collective Center has always appeared in the Orient. Abraham, Moses, Jesus Christ, Muhammad were Collective Centers of Their day and time, and all arose in the East. Today Bahá'u'lláh is the Collective Center of unity for all mankind, and the splendor of His light has likewise dawned from the East."  - from Baha'i Scripture

"The Birthday Festival is come, and He Who is the Beauty of God, the All-Powerful, the All-Compelling, the All-Loving, hath ascended His throne." -from Baha'i Scripture
The Twin Birthday celebrations, despite the rainy season, had prefect sunny weather at the start of each prayer service.

A collective centre of society to promote cordial affection, the Mashriqu’l-Adhkár stands as a universal place of worship open to all the inhabitants of a locality irrespective of their religious affiliation, background, ethnicity, or gender and a haven for the deepest contemplation on spiritual reality and foundational questions of life, including individual and collective responsibility for the betterment of society. Men and women, children and youth, are held in its embrace as equals. This singular and integral universality is captured in the very structure of the Mashriqu’l-Adhkár, whose design as a nine-sided edifice conveys a sense of completeness and perfection symbolized by that number. - Universal House of Justice

The grounds of the House of Worship attracted over 100 birds in the 2014's study.  Here below is the list of the top twenty.

"Say: Nature in its essence is the embodiment of My Name, the Maker, the Creator. Its manifestations are diversified by varying causes, and in this diversity there are signs for men of discernment. Nature is God's Will and is its expression in and through the contingent world." (Tablets of Baha'u'llah)

The Baha'i Holiday - the Martyrdom of the Bab - was beautifully commemorated within the gardens of the Kampala House of Worship this past Friday (10 July).  Some friends from Burundi were kind enough to share a song.  Herein is a glimpse of the wonderful spirit of the gathering.

The spiritual and peaceful nature of the House of Worship has the uncanny ability to create friendship and to share kindness.
"As to the Mashriqu’l-Adhkár, it is of the utmost importance.… It may assume any form, for even if it be an underground pit, that pit shall become a sheltering paradise, an exalted bower, and a garden of delight. It shall become a centre wherein the spirits are gladdened and the hearts attracted to the Abhá Kingdom."  - 'Abdu'l-Bahá
