Been thinking about going to #NewZealand  ? You might want to stop thinking and start packing. We just got back and the weather was great and the exchange rate is very favorable against the US dollar: US$1 = NZ$1.54. Our trip was everything I'd hope for and more. Here's what we loved about it>>>
Here's a personal account of a recent New Zealand trip written by a veteran travel journalist. Read this and you'll want to call Air New Zealand and go now.

Once again +Airbnb impresses - we chose an apartment in the suburbs of Christchurch, New Zealand for our Holiday trip and found a real gem. The “Art House” in Mt. Pleasant is, as the name implies, full of intriguing contemporary art. It also offers almost wall-to-wall water views of the estuary in the foreground and the ocean in the distance.
Here's a great affordable Airbnb apartment in a suburb of Christchurch NZ that offers "beaut" water views and all the "mod cons." Learn how you can rent it.

If you’re like me, shopping around for the best airfares is not your favorite thing to do. I get frustrated; I pull my hair out; I compromise where I can – and then – voilà – I find a deal on airline tickets that I can live with. Here's how I found affordable Business Class tickets to New Zealand for the holidays this year:
Here's a great tip to help you get deals on airline tickets. Bargain airline tickets aren't easy to find. Travelers need to be creative and perservere.

Grizzly bears eluded me when I stayed at King Pacific Lodge in British Columbia, so I was fascinated when fellow travel journalist Doug Hansen told me about his time at Knight Inlet Lodge. I love this part of Canada, and – based on his experience – I’m pretty sure it won’t be long before I follow in Doug’s steps. In the meantime, here’s his story:
Knight Inlet Lodge in remote British Columbia, Canada is the place to see grizzly bears, whales & eagles. Great meals, friendly hosts, beautiful wildreness.

Since I haven’t been to The Netherlands in ages, I turned to my extremely travel savvy colleagues in the Society of American Travel Writers SATW for Amsterdam hotel info. My request resulted in a treasure-trove of good advice.
Here's good advice on Amsterdam hotels from top travel journalists - members of Society of American Travel Writers. Looking for lodging with a canal view?

Have you been thinking about going to #NewZealand ? We're just back from a four-week trip and had a wonderful time. It's summer Down Under, so the weather was great and yet nothing was crowded. Another reason to go now:  the exchange rate is very favorable: US$1 = NZ$1.54. Check out this fun place we stayed.

Houston restaurants have evolved. Once limited to Tex Mex and BBQ, they now offer a wide variety of other cuisines and some very unusual preparations of local ingredients.

My friend and fellow travel journalist, Maggie Espinosa, laced up her Nike Pegasus and embarked on an 800-mile walk along the El Camino Real from San Diego to Sonoma to visit Junipero Serra’s California missions. Here's her story:
El Camino Real, the Royal Road, connects California's 21 historic missions. Read the engaging first-person story of the 11th person to walk the whole route.

Located right on the beach on the Kona side of the Big Island of Hawaii, the Lava Lava Beach Club is both a great place to eat and a unique place to stay. The contrast between this authentic lodging and the big hotels in Waikoloa (Marriott and Hilton) and elsewhere on the South Kohala Coast is dramatic.
Lava Lava Beach Club cottages, Big Island of Hawaii, come w/ water views from king beds, kitchettes & plant-filled outdoor showers. Free SUPs, bikes, pupus.

I love writing about ways that travelers can connect with local people and their cultures while they are visiting an unfamiliar destination. This might be a foreign country or a nearby city. In my articles, I provide readers with information they can use to wander off the beaten path instead of following the well-worn trail of tourist sites.
Introduction
I write two travel blogs:  "Authentic Luxury Travel" and "La Jolla (San Diego) Travel Information," and I am the Travel Editor of Ranch & Coast, San Diego's ultimate lifestyle magazine.

I also offer trip planning services for my readers who want a creative, customized itinerary, but don't have the time or experience to do the research and organization. My years as a guidebook author and world traveler enable me to plan great trips for others.
