The five gunmen who planned to rob the Southern Pacific express car didn't count on dealing with shotgun messenger Jeff Milton. Milton, a former lawman who thwarted the robbery attempt, but never recovered the use of his arm, shattered during the gun battle. "THE FAIRBANK SHOOTOUT"

Cash Hollister traveled to Kansas and won a special election to the post of mayor. He also spent several years as a lawman. Hollister had a few run-ins with the law while carrying out his mayoral responsibilities and got arrested for assaulting a citizen.

This is the 85th anniversary of The Long Ranger radio program. The late Clayton Moore starred in the TV version but lost the right to wear the mask in a court battle. Moore once told me portraying masked man made him a better person. http://tomrizzo.com/masked-rider-plains/
