The steampunk world overwhelms one with a dedication to the complexity of machines. The mysteries unfold in a beautiful pattern of perfect interaction. The mechanism itself becomes an artistic canvas. Poor executions with static and faux mechanism often ruin this experience.

The more satisfying is that Paul Nylander's mechanisms do actually work. They entangle one in a mesmerizing labyrinth of gears. Don't lose yourself in the depths of machines, traveler.

A floating fortress above the abyss, breaking apart in an invasion of chaos. Flowing into a cycle of destruction and recreation. Shadow puppets remembering a human shape for just a split of a second before they fall back into their origin. Continuously seeking a new hull, unstable and wrong.

A world imagined and displayed by Alessandro Bavari.

The pure potential of a bare page is overwhelming. A mass of wild unwritten words. Drops of ink untouched, just waiting in their phial for their purpose. Often one throws the towel, but sometimes one starts.
One line leads to the second. Resulting in a flood of motion.

Michael van Straaten has managed to trap this moment in a single drop of ink. Even while this has been a deviation from his usual work, that mostly consist of photographs of delicate woodworks, patterns and their interaction with light.

Just another morning... just another day. The glow of his cigarette illuminating the shape of his face. The only warmth in this place.

Another breeze playing with his hair. Subtle and yet sharp - confronting us all with the rough reality. Nothing will ever be the same.

Simon Stålenhag catches the conflicting feelings his dystopic world - familiar and yet with a slight retro touch.

To which point can we understand our own technology and what is about to come past it? Engineers of our own monsters and yet fascinated and addicted to them.

Almost invisible ultraviolet light gives us nothing but a hint of the environment until it touches fluorescent materials. Bursting into color most bright and vibrant.

John Poppleton catched beautiful landscapes drawn onto human bodies. Glowing like the night and setting skin on fire like a sun the sky.

A magical moment of exploration.
