Had the Veggie Hash and the Club. Quaint little place in the shade of 24th St. Be prepared for a Pastrami-dominant menu at slightly higher deli prices ($12 average). Good place to nosh and nice decor filled with Jewish photos and newspapers. Great fries, even better hash.

This place is a little overpriced, my companion and I split a sandwich and matzo ball soup today and it was $24. The sandwich was really good, we ordered the Number 19 which was listed on 7x7 top 100 Things to eat in SF. I thought the matzo ball soup was super bland. I've had it twice and it was bland both times. This place is OK, but just a little overpriced. Though I do want to try the challah french toast next time I'm there!

I passed on pastrami cause I was in the mood for a burger and I hate rye bread. So we got a burger and a patty melt (on challah). Wow using ground pastrami in the burger patty completely changes the flavor profile. One of the flat out tastiest burgers I've had in SF. Seriously the patty just by itself just had so much flavor. I think I've had better all around burgers but this might be my favorite burger patty in SF.

The pastrami and corned beef sandwiches are so tasty and generously proportioned with just the right amount of mustard on house made rye. I usually get the potato salad with it and am pretty full after that. I'm going to need to come back just to try the matzo ball soup. I like to buy their challah bread to toast at home. It's nice to know that they have a couple table seatings outside as well since the place can get packed for lunch.

Excellent traditional Jewish food. perfect pickles and corned beef! Actually better than several nice delis I've tried in New York City. Surprisingly NOT a kosher restaurant, though. They will happily put cheese on everything (not traditional, but yummy)

Bringing a bit of NYC and LA to the mission, you can now get your fix of Jewish comfort food. Small space and totally small portions with big prices. Looking for chewy,, crusty bagels? Sorry, only bialys served here.

Two things that put this place on my radar: the chopped liver, equally good as a plate or as a sandwich and the challah, which works better for me than the brioche you can get at La Boulange on the other side of 24th St.

We ordered sandwiches to go on a Saturday morning. There was a line, but they processed our orders quickly. One of our sandwiches was delicious, the other one (mushrooms) was terrible! It actually tasted like the mushrooms were pickled in turpentine - as you can imagine we didn't finish the mushroom sandwich.
