Despite the snow globe outside, today three auspicious celestial events collide: spring solstice, new (super) moon, and a total solar eclipse!

7:10 restorative yoga

Also, don't forget our spring equinox event tomorrow evening at 6:30!

"Begin your asana by releasing the breath till you feel a quiet state of silence in the cells and self. Inhalation is tension, exhalation is freedom. All movements should be done with exhalation. Exhalation purges the stress and tension of the body.

After doing the asana, if you want to stretch deeper, exhale and stretch again. Readjusting the asana after exhalation works on the inner organic body, whereas if done by inhalation it acts on the external physical body."
- B.K.S. Iyengar

"If you give yourself one complete moment of focused presence, to simply stop; even to listen to your heart beating, it will take you out of your head and introduce you to the moment...which is complete in itself. It is not on the way to another moment. It is not a bridge to another opportunity. It is the timeless perfection...so stop...and sink into this timeless moment." - Mooji

It's Friday - almost the end of the work day and the beginning of a glorious weekend. The sun is making a beautifully slow departure, making way for the radiant and guiding light of the moon.

For this moment, let's explore the idea of vairagya - nonattachment. I've been taught it's the ability to enjoy fully what is happening right now, because right now, what is happening is so good. If we can understand that if life is just a series of nows and if we can enjoy each now fully and gratefully, then life will just keep getting better and better and better...

Right now is perfect.

"Do not worry that your life is turning upside down. How do you know the side you are used to is better than the one to come?" - Rumi

Happy Monday!

Monday, oh Monday. The one day of the week met with the most angst. Start your week off right by indulging yourself in what feels good to you. Be it a beautiful coffee or tea from the cafe, some fresh flowers to brighten up your workspace, or simply just taking time out for yourself. If you please, allow for a little yoga at lunchtime!

Variations of a pose don't always have to mean an easier version, it could be testing your limits and going beyond what you think you're capable of. It could be indulging your playful side, just trying something for the fun of it, or you could be breaking through fears, mastering self limiting beliefs. Whatever it is, allow for your practice to be fun, gratifying, and to leave you feeling better than before you stepped onto your mat.

Have a happy Sunday friends! Hope to see your shining faces round here at the Loom!

The truth is always an abyss. One must - as in a swimming pool - dare to dive from the quivering springboard of trivial everyday experience and sink into the depths, in order to later rise again - laughing and fighting for breath - to the now doubly illuminated surface of things. - Franz Kafka

There are so many fun things going on at the studio today! Pop in for a new class or to visit your favorite teacher. We even have a workshop this evening!

"There will always be a hundred things to distract you. Quietness has to come from within. You can sit in a completely quiet room and if there's a storm within the mind, the silence outside won't help. You can be in a noisy place and be quiet within, and the noise doesn't matter. It's all in the mind and I believe that training your mind to do what you say is the most important thing to learn." - A. R. Rahman

Escape into our sanctuary today!

Happy 2015!

It's a new year, a new day, a new afternoon. The possibilities are endless.

I'm a firm believer in constantly learning, growing, and expanding, not just waiting for a new year to become a better me. So instead of looking at today as a day to make resolutions to a better self, make today a day where your soul shines through, shedding light on everything. Some pretty awesome revelations may emerge.

Join us this eve for a beautiful candle light flow at 6:30 with @nicolelynnehooley

"This is the turning point in the transformation process - when the fixed mind surrenders and precipitated a huge expansion in the consciousness of the heart, body, unified filed, and the wise evolutionary Flow." - Penney Peirce

This place has been my go to yoga place for a while. They are great, but the best thing is they are constantly improving and changing with the hood. Since I have been practicing there they have added massage, and aerial yoga as well as a teacher training program. They are actively involved with bushwick as a neighborhood, and a great place to practice. See you on the mat!

I attended an open level yoga class and the instructor was extremely precise verbally and demonstrated the different poses, and adjusted when necessary. There was a nice solid flow to the poses and class rhythm. The thing I liked most and was unique to loom yoga center was the small intimate class sizes, they have a limit of 12 people per class, that’s the only way I’ll practice from now on, it allows for attention and observation from the instructor for everyone in the class. The studio is very clean and smells of essential oils, and they provide the mats, blocks, and blankets. The class sign in is the yoga boutique right across the hall from the yoga practice space. The yoga boutique has a free reading library tea hot and cold water and seating and a lot of beautiful unique yoga wear. To conclude this intimate cozy yoga center in Bushwick is the place I’m now calling home it’s the perfect place to find refuge from the hustle and bustle that is Brooklyn, within its confines I found a place to reconnect the mind body and spirit, this yoga studio is what I envision a Yoga studio like.

Went to the free meditation circle on Saturday-facilitator was very knowledgable, friendly, personable. The studio is in a collective space of indoor shops which was a bit noisy at times but was ok. Very friendly staff, nice looking, clean space, intro special is $15/week or $40/month for unlimited classes. Will definitely be back here!

Been practicing at this studio for several months, and found all the instructors to be extremely knowledgable and engaging. My favorite, however, was Margherita; I had her 3 times so far, and she was totally awesome; she's friendly but direct, and that works for me. The classes at loom yoga are generally small (usually only around a dozen), and I felt I was getting more attention from instructors than at other, larger classes I've taken. Would definitely recommend!

Much more than yoga at great prices. The Loom Studios is home to everything from Yarn / Coffee / Laundry space to a plethora of vintage / thrift stores for both genders. The loom also hosts many art installations during events such as X Site and Open Studios so be sure to make it a bookmark.
