Electric heating has several advantages when compared to gas or oil furnaces and boilers. These include:

Easily Zoned
The temperature can be controlled easily room by room or zone by zone. Electric heating products are a smart, practical and efficient zone heating solution. Zoning heating is an easy way to keep your energy costs down; by simply heating the rooms you spend the most time in instead of heating your entire home. By using only the required amount of energy, they allow you to warm the areas you use most often allowing you to reduce your primary source of heat.

Less Expensive
Electric heating systems are generally less expensive to purchase, install and maintain than other systems. It requires no pipe-work just a simple connection to the electrical circuit(s). Electric heating is very efficient because all the electricity that you use and pay for is converted directly into heat. There is no maintenance or annual inspection required. With virtually no moving parts to breakdown or wear out, electric heating is extremely reliable.

Flexible
Electric heating doesn’t require a duct or pipe-work, so there are no restrictions on building layout or design and no regulatory or planning issues associated with positioning of ducts. Electric heaters can also be installed virtually anywhere in the room.If several heaters are used, the house will not be thrown into a no-heat condition by the failure of one unit. Electric heat can be added on a localized basis to heat specific cool areas.

Clean and Safe
Electric heat is clean. There is no chimney, so there is no off-cycle loss when the system is at rest. It contributes to a healthier indoor environment as there are no particles or emissions in the air. The system is safe because there is no combustion process so no carbon monoxide as well. There is also no chance of flames starting a fire or having combustion products contaminating the air and no chance of gas leaks due to mechanical failure or poor installation.

Convenient
Electric heat systems are practically silent as there are virtually no moving parts. And they respond very quickly.

Electricity is a basic part of our life and it is one of our most widely used forms of energy. We get electricity, which is a secondary energy source, from the conversion of other sources of energy, like coal, natural gas, oil, nuclear power and other natural sources, which are called primary sources.

Electricity can come in many different forms:Static Electricity is created when charges build up on the surface of a material. Friction is the common cause that creates static electricity. For instance, the electricity that is produced when someone receives a shock, or when laundry gets stuck together, or when you rub a balloon on your head is really static electricity. It is same type of electricity that causes lightning when there is a thunderstorm.

Current Electricity is different from static electricity; it is created by the movement of electrons. Without movement, there is no electricity. For there to be a current, the electrons must move through a conductor. The most common conductor, and that which is used in many homes, is copper wire. Power plants use electromagnets inside copper wire (the conductor) to produce the electricity that is sent through wires to our homes, schools, and businesses.

Solar Electricity is electrical power from the sun. Using the method of photovoltaic technology, the solar rays produced by the sun is transformed into a usable energy source. The best things about solar electricity are that it is free, everlasting, and non-polluting. When the sun shines on solar cells they absorb its energy, causing a chemical reaction that generates electricity - just like in a solar powered calculator. More complicated solar systems can be used to provide electricity to pump water, power communications equipment, and even provide electricity to our homes. It is a renewable source of energy that can never be exhausted.

An electrical contractor is a business person or firm that performs specialized construction work related to the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems. Whether high-voltage power transmission or low-voltage lighting, electrical contractors ensure these systems work in a safe, effective, and environmentally-sound manner. Electrical contractors are generally classified by the type of electrical work they do.

Electrical contractors not only installs the usual electric systems and repairs electrical problems, they usually work hand in hand with building contractors on large jobs. They will help design lighting for a certain type of ambience, make suggestions, and they will be able to provide eco-friendly and energy efficient solutions and products.

An electrician is a person trained to perform electrical work. An electrician may be employed by an electrical contractor or work directly for individuals or companies. Electricians may be further classified as apprentices (enrolled in an apprenticeship training program), journeymen (completed an apprenticeship program), or master electrician (a journeyman who has completed additional training and testing).

Both electrical contractors and electricians will usually hold licenses and insurances to properly and safely operate a business, protecting the employees, home owners and business owners from insurance liabilities. These requirements may vary from by province.
Depending on the job at hand, you may not need to hire a full fledged electrical contractor. For instance, if the lights in your garage have stopped working, a licensed electrician maybe best suited to this job. However, if you are undertaking some major remodeling which includes lighting, segregating areas, outdoor lighting, pool lighting, or even ripping down walls and ceilings to add or change lighting, you may then need an experienced electrical contractor.

Electrical work and repairs can be dangerous, especially around water. There is a risk of shock or electrocution, which could result in serious injury or death. Hot tub electrical wiring should be referred to a licensed electrician. Local code requirements for wiring vary and the local code regulations must be followed, with the necessary permits and inspections obtained. When selecting an electrician, be sure to ask about experience installing hot tubs, particularly 4-wire configurations.

The installer should read and follow the hot tub owner's manual and associated electrical component owner's manuals and instructions. Also make sure that power to the spa circuit is switched off at the house service panel prior to inspections, wiring, or repairs. Improper wiring may damage equipment and void the spa manufacturer's warranty.

Most hot tub models require a 240 volt electrical connection, so plugging it into a standard outlet would likely overload the circuit. A trench must be dug around the hot tub so the conduit can be placed in it at least 18 inches deep and run to the junction box

A hot tub requires a proper plumbing setup for water to pass through its jets, so an appropriate water pump must be installed with your hot tub. Many models come with the plumbing already installed, but you should verify whether your unit has all the necessary plumbing components included. The size of the pump required depends on the number of water jets that a hot tub has. A wrong size pump could result in your hot tub not operating properly.

For safe use, a hot tub must be installed on a structurally sound platform. There are several options when selecting a foundation for your hot tub. You can place a hot tub on the ground, but the soil should be leveled and rocks and other materials should be removed that might damage the tub's equipment. A raised wooden platform is another foundation option for your hot tub. Use pressure-treated lumber for this type of platform to limit moisture damage to the wood.

Concrete makes a simple but effective platform for a hot tub as well. Build a wooden frame and anchor in the ground. Pour concrete into the box, and level it off with a wooden board. After it has cured for several days, the hot tub may be installed on it. Whichever platform you choose for your hot tub, ensure that it can support the weight of the unit when full and that people are inside it.

Even for the best do-it-yourself homeowner, it’s often better to hire an electrician.

Some may know how to add a light switch to a room, but there are more difficult or even dangerous electrical tasks around the house that likely need the attention of a licensed electrician. Many jobs are required to be done to code that govern how electrical work is to be performed, and should therefore involve a professional electrician.

If you do not know the details of these codes, there is a chance that you could perform the electrical work incorrectly. Codes are there for safety and failing to adhere to them could mean big problems in your home, and the added cost of having the work redone. When you hire a licensed electrician, you can relax and know your delicate job is being handled efficiently and correctly.

It is unlikely that the average homeowner has the proper tools to perform all electrical repairs. There have been numerous reports of houses catching fire or becoming damaged due to faulty electrical work. A few dollars saved in the short run may lead to medical expenses, further repairs or worse in the long run.

A licensed electrician brings considerable experience to the table, resulting in efficient and reliable work. For more intricate electrical problems, they will more easily be able to troubleshoot and figure out the origin of the issue.

An expert can offer his skills to make your electrical project or electrical repair cost effective with high standards, hence, providing you with peace of mind and home comfort.

Kitchen Renovation

Once you have your kitchen design ideas worked out, you need to develop a plan to make your dreams a reality. You should start with a clear idea of what you want your kitchen to look like and how it will be used on a daily basis. Then you can firm up the actual scope of work and prepare your initial budget. Both your plan and budget need to be realistic in terms of the available space you have and the amount of time and money you are prepared to put into the project. Then you can do some more formal research and planning by checking out local showrooms and designers to get the best value and selection for the components you plan to purchase. For kitchen renovations, it is critical to use quality materials, designed for durability and low maintenance.

If the plans involve any structural changes to the building, make sure to get proper designs done by an architect or engineer so that you can get the necessary building permits too. And, unless you plan to do all the work by yourself, it is very important to find a local renovation contractor or builder that is experienced doing kitchens, to work with you on the final plans. They will know how to make everything fit together properly and what are the best supplies and materials to use to complete your kitchen designs. Make a detailed floor plan of the desired layout to make sure everything will fit and flow properly. Then you can look at the finishing touches for the floors, walls, cabinets and countertops, and select the lighting and plumbing fixtures to top it all off. Good lighting is particularly important for the working areas of the kitchen, such as under-counter lights and pendant lamps over islands and tables.

Once you have the complete building plans and materials selected you should get few quotes from some local respected contractors. Get clear complete contract details in writing about the work to be done, the planned schedule and final costs, but don’t base your decision on cost alone. Plan for some disruption while this is all under way, so have another area in your home to use as a kitchen, or make alternate living arrangements if necessary. When it is finally completed, your newly renovated kitchen can provide the best added value and return on investment for your home today. The ACCL Electrical Company is a qualified and experienced kitchen renovation contractor in your area that can work with you to explore the best kitchen designs and products available today and help start planning your most valued home improvement investment now.
