The truth is, just like the time doesn’t make a difference in the quality of the recovery, the time doesn’t make a difference in the quality of the relationship. Relationships work when people do. Relationships work when each person works on bettering their program of recovery and their relationship with their higher power.

Enabling looks like you going against what is okay for you in your own mind, body, and spirit in order to accommodate the addict in your life. It looks like you allowing the addict in your life to live in your home and get high there, never kicking them out. It looks like you calling their job for them to explain how they are sick when really they are hungover or going through withdrawal.

"Facts about cocaine #1: The soft drink Coca-Cola originally had around 9 milligrams of cocaine per serving which, when combined with the caffeine as well, gave it a very powerful stimulating effect. While cocaine was officially removed Coca-Cola’s ingredients in 1903, a cocaine-free version of the coca leaf is still used as a flavor additive in it! Surprise!"

The Palm Beach Post wrote an article on the recent overdoses-they called us to get an idea of what was going on.

"Ivan Baker, who works with addicts at Addiction Intervention Now in Delray Beach, said he’s seen five clients who overdosed in the past two weeks after using heroin tainted with Fentanyl."

When bad batches of heroin enter into communities people start dropping like flies. All over, addicts, who are doing their normal daily dose of dope drop dead and it is due to a bad batch of heroin. Doing heroin is really just like playing russian roulette.

You are probably wondering what I am talking about. And you probably think I am being bold by stating that this one line almost always leads to relapse. But it is true. I hear this line all the time. Especially by addicts who have found themselves in drug detox time and time again and are in horrible situations. And I am here to poke holes through it and tell you exactly why this shit ends up in the addict relapsing. I have said it myself and instead of being able to progress, I slowly found myself digressing. Luckily I tossed this line once I realized that it was total crap.

"Drug overdose. It is something that is happening right at this second. All over the country there are addicts blowing lines of coke. They are popping handfuls of pills. They are finishing off their last few sips of liquor. They are putting needles filled with dope in their arms for the first time, and quite possibly for the last time. Everywhere sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers are spending their last breaths in and out, in an desperate attempt to just simply make the pain go away. And where are you? What are you doing?"

"To me this was the onset of exploiting drug addicts and alcoholics and all types of other behavioral issues, not to educate or inform, or even help, but to take advantage of for ratings. And America ate it up."

"Anonymity.
It is a word that is thrown around a lot. But do you really know what it means? You probably think the tradition in AA that speaks on anonymity means something that it actually doesn’t. Because of this misunderstanding you have hidden in the dark about being an addict and more importantly you have hidden the fact that you have recovered."
