The historic Stokes adobe has been lovingly restored to period decor and is home to the single best place to get a cocktail on the Monterey peninsula. Sure it's a little pricey but you get what you pay for in a big way. The elegance and craft in the cocktails are something special. I would rate this place 5 stars just for the drinks alone but what they do with the food is equally impressive. The cheddar bacon biscuits with maple chili butter manage to showcase each of those tasty ingredients without any of them running away with the show and are the bar apps you didn't know you desperately need. It's been a while since I've had dinner here but I plan to soon and when i do I will be updating this review. Stay tuned for more deliciousness!

Our experience was brief but we were impressed. We were looking for somewhere to grab dessert at 9:30 PM on a Sunday and most places around town were closed. We called 1833 and they were more than happy to accommodate us even though they were only open for about 20 more minutes by the time we got there. We ordered as takeout so we wouldn't have to keep them there late and they packed it very thoughtfully (kept the ice cream separated from the hot stuff). They were very friendly and never rushed us. In fact while we waited we were allowed to roam the mostly empty restaurant and check out the very well decorated rooms throughout the house. It has a very unique, eerie, romantic atmosphere and a great patio with fire pits outside. I had the Cheddar Apple Pie and it was to die for- the cheddar was not noticeable but it made the taste more savory:) My husband had the Bourbon Pudding (I think) with sugar cookies and it was also fantastic.

Absolutely amazing service and food was outstanding. This is a true high end restaurant they are definitely on the higher price side of things, but very reasonable for the quality of food and service you received is unparalleled. Their herb roasted salmon was magnificent one the best I have ever had, and their steaks are amazing. This place also has one of the best macaroni and cheese sides you will ever have as well as the deserts are quite amazing. I do not believe there is a bad thing on the menu everything from their drinks to desert are planned, prepared and plated perfectly. If you are looking for for a true high class dinner experience this is one of the best places to choose

I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant 1833 while in town for the Pebble Beach Food & Wine event. This experience ranked as one of my best of the weekend. I sampled 6 dishes, 2 cocktails and a cappucinno and all were exceptional. It's attention to detail that defines the difference between ordinary and extraordinary. This is where they shine. My server, Brian and the large staff of extra help never left me without a perfect looking table, new forks for every plate, I never had to refill my own water even though bottle was on the table, and continuously checked in to see if I was satisfied. I would highly recommend this to everyone as a fabulous value. Food and drinks are very well priced and worth every penny. I hope to visit again.
