Soldiers do still train with BAYONETS as a last line of defense. Do Soldiers use BAYONETS, no. Do they need BAYONETS, absolutely.
As for HORSES, I am sure that no one ever expected our modern military to ever use HORSES for anything other than ceremony honors, but our U.S. Special Forces used HORSES to traverse the rugged mountains of Afghanistan.
