Let's face it. We're all loaded with chemicals, toxins, heavy metals, and biological waste products of various types. You're loaded. I'm loaded. We're loaded no matter how hard we try to avoid environmental exposures from food, water, air, soil, furniture, work, transportation and so on.

In a move clearly intended by the Obama Administration to suppress the acquisition, ownership and use of AR-15s and other .223 caliber general purpose rifles, BATFE announced that it intends to ban commonplace M855 ball ammunition as “armor piercing ammunition.” The decision continues Obama’s use of his executive authority to impose gun control restrictions and bypass Congress.

a fresh start

Happy New Year!

"It's Your Life"  Francesca Battistelli

"It's your life
What you gonna do?
The world is watching you
Every day the choices you make
Say what you are and who
Your heart beats for
It's an open door
It's your life

Are you who you always said you would be?
With a sinking feeling in your chest
Always waiting for someone else to fix you
Tell me when did you forget

To live the way that you believe
This is your opportunity
To let your life be one that lights the way"

Every day we get a  fresh start.  Every day when we awake from sleep and put our feet onto the ground, we have a new opportunity to reboot our lives.  Every day we get to make a choice to move forward, to remain in place or to take steps back.

Each of the choices we make provide an oportunity for reflection, consideration and revision. Was it the right choice? Should I do it differently next time? Was it the best I could do? Did I hit the mark in front of me (the mark that honors God)?

"Every day the choices you make
Say what you are and who
Your heart beats for"

We were created for a specific purpose or purposes, with a definite, designed and achievable target. God put us here for a reason. When we allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit of God, we will find ourselves moving in the correct direction.

I have made a lot of mistakes in my life, some recoverable and some not.  Some of the choices I made for myself and for my family were certainly not the wisest choices I could have made.  I'd like to go back and fix the outcomes of those unwise choices; sometimes we get that chance, sometimes not.  Choices that affect others may not always be fixable.  Our imprint on the lives of others tends to be indelible.  We can leave broken hearts, minds and bodies in our wake or we can bless others on the paths we cross or walk alongside.  I've done both.

"To live the way that you believe
This is your opportunity
To let your life be one that lights the way"

I want to be the "one that lights the way".  I want "to live the way that you believe".

Every day I get a new chance to make a fresh start putting yesterday behind me and moving forward.

"Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,  I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 3:13-14 (NASB)

Guided by the Holy Spirit and God's Word, I can begin each day with a renewed purpose and push to achieve that which God has set before me.  I can step onto a renewed path, picking up dropped pieces, pressing forward.

While 10-14" of white stuff is piling up outside, here's something to remember warmer days.

This is the "Torch Lake" -- a restored engine previously used in northern Michigan for mining but is currently running in Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford.

Introduction
Whew!  The plethora of social outlets online provide an opportunity to divide interests and be specific in managing my views of the world:

Facebook - family and friends
Twitter - news and politics updates

G+ - photography

My first camera came out of a "Secret Sam" Attache Case, a plastic toy using 126 roll film.   Since then I have always had a camera and an abiding enjoyment of snapshooting.

Somewhere around '90, using a Vivitar 320 P&S, I fell in love with a shot I took at the Japanese Garden in Austin, TX..  I haunted the pawn shops and amassed an array of various Minolta 35mm SLRs and tons of equipment  over a couple of years and became "the camera guy".

I am currently shooting with a Canon A1100IS and a Canon XTi to focus my digital skills and become a more accomplished photographer.

Worst service I have seen in a very long time. The server was horribly overworked and seriously under trained. After the young man at the front door attempted to seat my party of four, including an obviously handicapped elderly woman in a walker, at a table in a tight corner, we waited an extraordinarily long time for a server to appear. She attempted to take our drink orders and leave, but, since it had been such a long wait and we were completely ready to order drinks, appetizers and entrees, I stopped her flight and had her take the complete order. She returned quite some time later and (I have NEVER seen this done) promptly placed all four drink glasses in a huddle in the middle of the table and took off again! She was obviously overworked; I went searching for a manger and spotted two servers , one bus person and the ever disappearing door person, who only popped out to seat the next party and then promptly disappeared again (maybe he was the cook/kitchen staff. Apparently our server was waiting on half the restaurant. This is a CHILI's and it was about a third busy! I never did locate anyone looking as if they might be in charge and did not want to disturb any of the four persons who were trying to keep things going. The server never inquired about the quality of our food, never re-filled drinks and never cleared any plates. Once our food was delivered we never saw our server again until it was time to bring the check, which, for some unknown reason she placed between my wife and my minor child, even though I was clearly the host! I left her a tip only because it was so obviously not her fault that she was so overwhelmed and had not received proper training. Yes, I know what proper server training looks like, I was in food service management for over 20 years and have trained hundreds of servers. The server was, at the same time, very personable, and when she did appear, managed to maintain her composure and not show the fluster I am certain she felt. Shame on the Manager of this restaurant and shame on the Chili's organization for letting one of their houses get into this condition! We'll visit Chili's again, as it is my daughter's favorite, but not this location, even though it is closest to our house.

Outstanding food and service! I dined with an Italian from Brooklyn and he was quite pleased with the offerings and authenticity. My food was delicious and the white tablecloth service was "knock your socks off"! I highly recommended Biaggi's !
