A QUICK MESSAGE FROM OUR VETERINARY TECHNICIAN TEAM: It's hot out there, and we wanted to remind all of you just how important it is to NEVER leave your pet in your car, even with the windows cracked. Temperatures reach dangerous levels in just a few seconds this time of year. If you can't take your pet indoors with you when you reach your destination, please leave your pet at home where he or she can stay cool and safe!

Here's our little hummer resting comfortably in the nest Technician Michelle made before Cyrus took her to the bird rehabilitator. We're hoping for a full recovery!

We heard that this was going to be a bad year for fleas and ticks, and they weren't kidding! Here's a nasty little tick that hitched a ride from Wyoming on a newly adopted puppy that came in for a check-up yesterday. Ticks are easy to miss on a furry pet, so take the time to check your pets over on a regular basis. Ticks transmit Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Tularemia, and Ehrlichiosis. It's why we recommend having dogs and cats on a flea and tick preventive during the warm weather months!
