a church within 5 minutes from my house now:

http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/news/gki-yasmin-denied-christmas-service-in-bogor-church-again/563498

Note this:
The GKI Yasmin won a permit to run the church in 2006, but it was promptly revoked by the municipal administration after resistance from Muslim-majority local residents.

The Supreme Court ordered its reopening two years ago, but the local administration has refused to enforce the ruling.

http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2012/09/06/red-cross-or-red-crescent.html

The House of Representatives has sent 20 legislators on a Rp 1.3 billion (US$135,804) junket to Turkey and Denmark, in a move activists have criticized as further wasteful government spending.

Apparently unaware that Google could help them determine whether the national flag of Turkey features a crescent symbol and Denmark’s flag is adorned with a cross, a number of lawmakers decided to take a trip to the two countries to investigate in person, ostensibly to reconcile their difference over which symbol the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) should use.

Stick with the bowls and drinks. They use good ingredients, but I'm not sure they know what good flavor is. One of the dishes we had was a salad with sesame dressing. The dressing was 100% tahini and nothing else. Just a touch of lemon juice and salt would have been enough to elevate the whole dish. The saving grace was the fresh tomatoes and veggies. One of the drinks we had was iced lemon and ginger. There was a slight fleeting hint of ginger and absolutely no tartness of the lemon.

Very clean, nice comfy bed. Large room for a budget hotel. Balcony is a nice touch. But service could be better. The room was barely finished when I checked in at 3pm and the floor was still wet. But all in all a VERY good deal for a hotel in Seminyak area. Around $20 a night. Good area for walking around. Not exactly on the main strip but not far and the street next to it is pretty lively

Was just okay. Predictable food, nothing stands out. But the furniture could use a deep cleaning.

Had the filet steak, the sauce was waaaayyyy too salty. The meat was good. Also had the agli e olio pasta. Not bad. Al dente texture. Decent flavor, but watery sauce. The star of the night was the grilled veggies. Good fresh veggies grilled really well. Could have used more flavors but I can tell they used good veggies. I'd give this place a try.

Food was okay, had the rice noodle soup (bihun) and the noodle had a strange gummy texture. Broth was okay. But please close the door to the smoking area. I kept having to get up and close the door because the smoke was getting in and the hot air was coming in. Only one of the staff tried to close the door each time they went through. The others don't care.

The beef flavor was decent, better than typical Indonesian beef. You could tell it was dry aged a little bit. But a little tough and dry (as in the rib eye wasn't well marbled) . The fries were almost great. Good amount of salt, crisp outside but not quite creamy inside. And you couldn't tell it was fried in duck fat. The beef wasn't well cooked though. I asked for a medium, and we'll, just check out my photos. Let's just say good thing I like rare. But it would have had great flavor had the outside was cooked better.

Sat at Seroeni Ps restaurant for 3 hours without anyone saying hi or giving me the menu. I just sat there with my laptop working. When I was done 3 hours later, I got up and left. Someone who looked like a manager said Thank you. I said what for? I told him that I was sitting there for 3 hours without anyone saying hi (including him) . And he just said he'd check. Yea right...... It isn't my job to hail the waiter to come with the menu. As I was sitting there for 3 hours, either the manager or one of the many idle waiters could have said a simple hi. Someone must have noticed that there is no food or drink on my table. And I was by my self. Can't be that difficult to figure out I have not ordered.
