My wife and I decided to grab breakfast here while our boys were practicing for a flag folding ceremony for a Memorial Day servie at church. When we arrived, we put our name on the waiting list and waited outside. Not long after we had placed our order, the "music" shifted from a low key Willie Nelson mix to a high volume group of instruments playing with an angry man slurred his words over them. Not singing - angrily slurred talking is the best way I can describe this sound - and it was playing directly behind us. It was overpowering. It was difficult to even talk or think over. Now I have a high tolerance of most things, but this was over the top. We even asked the people next to us what they thought of it, and they weren't happy about it either. My wife found someone on staff before I did to request that it either be changed or turned down. Now, my Bride is respectful, considerate, and kind - and at the same time articulate enough to communicate what she wants to say. She also has a degree in restaurant management, among other things and ran one of the top restaurants in Portland in her younger days. So I was surprised when she came back to the table and said that they weren't willing to change the music or turn it down. After a few more minutes, we decided if the environment wasn’t going to change - then we would change our environment! No sense letting good food go to waste :) We took our food to the outside table where it was quieter & made the best of it. OK, so here is where, had I not seen it with my own 2 eyes and heard it with my own 2 ears, I would not have believed it. I swear, I wondered when the camera crew was going to come out and say “SURPRISE!” and that we were on some sort of prank show. One of the staff, who I later discovered was the owner, came out with ‘To Go’ boxes and our bill telling us we couldn’t have food outside. And after trying to tell her that we came outside because we couldn’t be inside with that “music”, she proceeded to tell my Wife that she was being dramatic and immature and that clearly this wasn’t her kind of place. Seriously – this is where I thought cameramen would be coming out any second from hiding. Not only was the woman - THE OWNER - publicly berating us in front of other customers, but her accusations were not even on keel with reality. The only drama and immaturity was from her. We were completely calm throughout our visit - and you could ask anyone there and they’d agree. After our scolding, another couple came out and they, too had mentioned that they didn’t care for the “music”, and they were told they were welcome to not come back. Really – that happened! They told us - and they were shocked, too! I guess we were not the only crazy ones. The entire experience was unbelievable, and to be honest – downright insulting. This is the first time in my 45 years that I have ever taken the time to write a negative review - but it is also the first time I have seen this kind of treatment. It was humiliating, insulting, embarrassing, and the owner of the restaurant should be ashamed of herself for treating so many others so poorly. Yes, I said many others. Take the time to read through the reviews and you will see a pattern. Do yourself a HUGE favor and stay away from Junior's Cafe - it's not worth it. There are plenty of other places you can go where you are welcome and appreciated...

I think Juniors is a little overrated. There's nothing wrong with the food, but it's not crazy, spectacular, wonderful, changed my life or anything like that. Typically there's a wait on weekends and the service it's usually slow, in no rush, and leaves me wanting. There are way better places to go for breakfast/brunch, especially if you're going to have to wait.

I really enjoyed my breakfast it was superb. The only downfall was though, I expected to have to wait. There were spots cleared that took long for the patrons to get to and I was worried that I got skipped over as a single patron for a couple as they got called first over me though I was on the list first. On busy days I would be a bit wary if not in a group but I enjoyed my visit and will return.

Hey this is greasy food, with great Vegan twists offered. The Vegan Migas are amongst the best Migas I've had, so addictive. The French Toast is great (and now I know the secret how it's so great, and I'll keep it that way for making it at home.) And the service is amusing, usually with a sardonic smile, or a little sass, just like I like it. Real people with real personalities. The wait is nil to none on weekdays, and maybe 5-10 minutes on busy weekends, which is pretty good for Portland Breakfast eateries. No real complaints. I've never left this place feeling like I missed filling my stomach with the yummies.

Brunch here is just awesome. The menu has something for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. The service here is so accommodating that you can order what does meet your dietary needs if you happen to fall into a different category. The coffee comes in regular intervals before your cup is empty. The food is consistently great, across a number of different dishes I've tasted. Finally, the music is always eclectic and interesting. The potatoes are my absolute favorite, possibly the best I've ever eaten, and again, consistently so -- browned to perfection and not too greasy like other places I've gone to.

You know those home fries that are like potatoes cut up and fried, but then they sorta squish them down and double fry them? You know what I mean... anyway they have those here. Portions are a bit small and stuffed on an even smaller plate, but excellent taste!
