Let's break the glass ceiling for women's retirement security. Here are some proposals to modernize Social Security benefits for women, in particular, providing caregiver credits to women who take time out of the work force to care for an elderly parent or sick child: http://bit.ly/J9Xb6t

A group of Wall St. billionaires met in D.C. today to discuss ways to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid for America's seniors, the disabled and their families. This is UNACCEPTABLE and we told them so by protesting outside the conference along with Senator Bernie Sanders: http://www.ncpssm.org/entitledtoknow/?p=2344

I hope you don't have the same issues we're dealing with recently in Alberta, Canada - seniors only be allowed 1 bath per week due to costs. When you think about all the money spent on taking care of inmates, it's a real shame how little we spend on our seniors.

The media consistently misinforms the public on the truth about Social Security's finances. Here is another excellent article from Columbia Journalism Review's Trudy Lieberman:

"Old age is no place for sissies,"-Bette Davis. Social Security is vital for seniors but it is particularly important for women. Women who are employed full-time earn 23 percent less than men. In addition, women are more likely to have low-wage part-time jobs or to take time out of the workforce to care for their children. The typical woman is in the workforce for 32 years, compared to 44 years for men. This shorter work history combined with lower wages means that the lifetime earnings for women are on average lower than for men: http://www.ncpssm.org/news/archive/womenSSQA/
