2001 has a black screen at the beginning which represents the Monolith, yet they keep the curtains closed during the beginning and intermission while the films score plays over it, so we never see that part of the film. Amazing to me that they would do that as supposed film buffs. Also during Full metal Jacket there is a message on the dead vietnamese soldiers helmut when Animal meets Joker. Tiff plays the film as a full frame image instead of a wide screen frame and actually cuts that out if you can believe it. Another moment of awe for me. Learn about the movies you play kids. Its important to convey the message Kubrick put in for a reason. A tiny bit of research would open your eyes to the wonder that is.

One of the best film festivals to attend, complete with it's own theatre venue - the TIFF lightbox has a number of events year round - highly recommend getting a membership - Richard Trus review

Exhibitions at the TIFF are first rate. Loved the current Warhol exhibition and last year's Kubrick exhibition. Give at least an hour to get through, though easy to spend a couple of hours in the exhibition space. You can also see movies here, including older films and films matched to the exhibition being shown.

get rid of the new management in the festival towers. Houda the manager should not be in that position. she is rude!!! impolite!!!! not helpful!!!! My dealings with the festival towers have been since day 1. The previous management was very pleasant and always very helpful. Houda has made my experience with the festival towers a very unpleasant one. As an owner of this festival tower I am not happy with her at all. Please make sure we screen our people before hiring them.

An excellent venue for enjoying less mainstream or independent films. The seats are very comfortable but I do wish the screens were larger at times. Otherwise, a very beautifully designed interior as well.

Went to a movie at TIFF - the whole time one of the staff walks up and down the side pausing at each row and using a scanning device, I got upset and went out to ask the other staff and they told me it was to catch people making an illegal video of the movie. Yes I guess you have to stop illegal video BUT have a man walk and scan me every 10 minutes ALL THRU THE MOVIE IS OFFENSIVE AND RUDE. This is 2015 is there not a more polite way to catch video makers. Maybe this not bother other people but I found this very offensive and note we had paid $52.00 to see this movie

Rude, snooty staff and not the first time. They descended with garbage pails and rushed the audience out after the 6:45, May 12 show of "Going Clear." "Make your way out, unless you want to pick up a broom and help." "Clear out so we can get ready for the next viewing." I barely had time to gather my coat and see the last of the credits. It was embarrassing for my friend and I, to be treated so shabbily. Another time I stood in line weighed down with backpack and shopping, winter coat, boots...and an attendant looked me over , saying loudly, "You're in the wrong line." No offer to find the right line-just what felt like an affront. Please remember, paying customers are guests and need always to be treated with courtesy, or we can just opt for a cozy evening with Netflix.
