Anybody who creates content wants as many people as possible to see it.

Nobody wants their efforts and energy to go to waste.

You want to think like the algorithm, you want to act like the algorithm.

You want to create content that is impossible to miss on social media.

You want to know your connections, constituents and customers so well that everything you share with them is exactly what they want to see.

You want the content you publish to be so perfectly aligned with your audience’s needs and desires that LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the like can’t help but show it to them time and time again.

You want to be the algorithm.

To open up the Greater Framingham Running Club's 2018 Awards Banquet the other night, I told a little story about the importance of cheering for others - wherever you go in life, whoever you are, whatever you are doing - and how that is one of the biggest benefits of being a member of the club. We are a close-knit team. We support each other, we cheer for each other and we are each other's biggest fans. Are you a runner? Do you live in the MetroWest area? Join us. Run with us. We want to cheer for you, too. www.gfrcrun.org

Another one of the creations I have been working on lately is my new podcast. It's all about social media and marketing. "But, of course it is," you say. Yes, I know, no surprise there. But hey, this is the work I live and breathe. This Is my passion. This is my job. This is my life. Check it out when you get a chance at https://bobcargill.podbean.com and let me know what you think. Thanks! #podcast #podcasting #podbean #socialmedia #marketing #socialmediamarketing #branding

Listen to what your connections, constituents and customers have to say about their hopes, dreams and accomplishments.

Engage with them. Learn from them.

Comment on their content. Like it and share it.

The more you do for others, the more they’ll do for you.

Working the crowd successfully on social media means listening as much as, or even more than, you talk.

I was my own boss for about seven years back in the ‘90s.

I learned a lot running my own business during that time, but I also took a big chance.

I had next to no money in the bank when I set out on my own.

I didn’t know if I was going to survive financially.

That’s where I got my motivation, though.

I was determined.

I was driven.

Being hungry – not necessarily literally, but in your heart – is a determinant of better things to come.

Don’t ever lose your drive.

Don’t ever lose your hunger for greater accomplishments and success.

Are you okay?

Three words. One question.

It’s a VERY important question, one we should be asking those around us in both our personal and professional lives as often as possible.

I don’t remember being asked if I was okay when I was younger, but my wife, Barbara, has asked me that question time and again ever since the day we met.

We ask the same question of our kids, too.

Are you okay?

Times are tough.

Life isn’t easy.

You never know what other people are going through behind the scenes.

If you’re in a position of leadership, responsibility, partnership and commitment, it is important to show empathy and concern for those who depend on you for support and direction.

You. Me. We all need to watch out for one another.

Your employees. Your colleagues. Your friends. Your family. Even complete strangers.

Ask them if they’re okay today.

If everyone is okay, the world is a better place in which to live, work and play.

Public speaking.

Training.

Consulting.

And, of course, doing the work itself.

That’s what I bring to the table.

That’s what I have to offer you.

I'm someone who has been there and done that.

I'm someone who – when it comes to #SocialMedia, #Copywriting and #ContentMarketing – is at your beck and call.

Anytime.

Back in the day, when I was a kid growing up in the ridiculously awesome town of Franklin, Massachusetts, I ran for the cross country team in high school.

Our coach taught us to get a head start on the competition.

He trained us to sprint across the open fields on our home course in order to reach the narrow paths in the woods before the opposing team.

That way, it would be easier to hold our lead.

The paths were so narrow, it was almost impossible to pass other runners.

Great coach. Great strategy.

As it was on the trails when I was running cross country, it is in our lives when we're just getting through the day.

Get a head start on anyone else who may be vying for the same prize.

Move quickly from the get-go, putting everything you have into the task at hand.

Don’t hesitate for even one second.

Time waits for no one and neither does your competition.

Get a head start on everything you do in both your personal and professional lives.

Don’t procrastinate. Don’t wait.

Get after it now.
