Well, before I posted this, I read the other reviews and seems like customer service is a hit and miss at this place...a miss..twice for me unfortunately. I decided about a month ago I wanted to get into hunting archery...for a first timer...walking into a archery shop can be little intimidating. So first time, bout a month ago, I went in they asked me right away how can I help? I said what I was looking to do. At the end, bottom line I got from them was take our class first then we can talk..I agree a class isn't a bad idea but that doesn't mean you can't speak to me or educate me for even a minute. Or even entertain my amateur questions that you probably have heard a million times. After getting the cold shoulder..it put a bad taste in my mouth and I kind of dropped the archery thought. Fast forward to today...so typically one strike and your out in my book but this place is the closest archery shop to me by far and I really wanted help in selecting my first bow and build a relationship with a local shop I can go to in the future. Customer service is soooo important me and I just don't think there is an excuse for lack of it.. I walked in and there was no one visually there. No employees or customers. I heard few people talking in the back. About 20 seconds later a employee walked out and asked "how can I help you?" I responded with "I'm looking to purchase my first bow and would like some help in deciding which one is best for me" Right away, almost before I even finished speaking, he went on saying "well with the info you just gave me I can't help you and gave me a couple of ridiculous analogies to prove his point one being about my boots...which made no sense. Honestly in my head I thought...you asked me how could you help..I answered your question hoping it would be a start of a good conversation that would lead to some q/a and possibly a purchase at the end. So after he was done, I started to speak saying which brands I researched and like, my budget and in mid sentence he interrupted me and went back to his original point that it's hard for him to help me. It was very apparent at this point that he obviously was in the middle of something (or not) and needed to get back to the back room. I mean like rude pushy short and just not interested whatsoever...at this point I think I might of had a smile on my face because I couldn't believe someone would treat you that way when you walk in there store to spend money...anyway I just said thanks for your help and he high tailed it to the back office. I was like unreal! I stayed in there walking around checking things out for five minutes completely by myself just to see if someone would come out..nothing. Bottom line...to the employee "junior"..I hope hope hope your not the owner...people have good days and bad days..sometimes busier then they want to be....maybe didn't get laid the night before...but you have a lot to learn about customer service..treat everyone the same that walks in your door..not just the regulars. To anyone that reads this and looking for your first bow goto Ross outdoors in Phoenix. I drove 35 minutes to Ross and it started with the same first question but ended with amazing customer service from three different employees, they showed me tons of bows, gave me a crash course on all the hardware and tips for technique. I probably shot six bows multiple times. After my visit there, I was like wow night and day. I'm going back to Ross outdoors tomorrow to buy my first bow and I'm super excited about it!!

I took my bow in to have the strings changed on it. I picked up my bow when they were finished and took it out to shoot it. After shooting less than 12 arrows the cam blew up on me. I immediately took the bow back a few hours after initially picking it up. Guys told me it wasn't gonna be covered under warranty and I was on my own. They said it was a coincidence and blamed it on an arrow failure. Pretty suspicious failure first time back out and less than an hour after picking it up. They quoted me full retail to replace my cam, not even a break on price to help me out. I stated my displeasure and let them know if I was gonna pay full retail I would take it somewhere else. They said ok do what you have to do. Obviously a $40 part to them isn't worth keeping a customer happy and coming back. Not the kind of place I want to do my business with!!!

My first experience with Archery Headquarters was to purchase a riser for my daughter's 1st bow earlier this year. I called them on the phone and they had what we wanted in stock. They offered to hold it until I could get down to pick it up. We brought our limbs with us and purchased the string and a couple of other accessories while we were there. The employee working that night was so helpful with the set up of our bow and answering our questions. We walked away thrilled that we had found a local shop we could go to for our archery needs. Fast forward about 3 months and we were back participating in a class at their Academy next door. The facility is beautiful and comfortable to hang out in while my daughter does class. The instructors she has worked with through the academy have been encouraging and supportive of her too. Overall it's been great! Our experiences have been so wonderful that we seem to frequent the Pro Shop and range regularly. Typically, she prefers to shoot at an outdoor range, however, with the summer temperatures it is so much nicer to have the option of indoor too. The guys down there have always been helpful anytime something comes up with her equipment or if we need help with a purchase. I would recommend this shop to anyone that is looking to do some range practice, needs to purchase equipment, or has any hunting related questions. They seem to have a knowledgeable employee on staff for everything.

Wow, I just got back from shooting my bow here and I will never go back! From the moment I walked in the door these guys were rude and condescending. I know a thing or two about customer service and I have been shooting competitive archery for over 5 years, they missed the mark. I said "I would like to use your range" and the guy asked me "what for?" Really? What for? You see this bow case in my hand buddy? Then I wanted to use a allen wrench and they gave me one that was all stripped out, when I told him that it was no use he suggested that I purchase an allen wrench. He had at least 10 in a drawer right in front of me but he told me that they were for store personnel only, not customers. I stayed for the full hour as an hour of range time is the minimum purchase and I was happy to leave. In the future will go somewhere where my business is not such an inconvenience.

Really informative and made sure we knew what we were buying. Actually talked us out of getting a sleeve and more expensive finger guard. I will be making all my bow purchases here if I can help it.

My son has been going here for classes, club team for just about a year....began on a GroupOn class and loved it....all the guys in the shop are excellent helping us newbies with equipment and information...a great place for kids/teens to pick up a new sport/hobby. The older, more experienced folks in the shooting range have always been helpful and kind to our 11 year old.....

Archery Headquarters is by far the best shop in town. Three years ago I wanted to get into archery. I spoke to a lot of people about where to go, what to get etc.…. The same name came up every time. Go see George at AHQ. He will treat you right. So having no idea what I was in for I stopped in a couple of time. George took the time to explain the equipment to me, from high end to beginner equipment. After a couple of months I had the money saved to get started. Went back and got with George again. He helped me get a complete set up that fit my budget. Not knowing much I depended on him to help me make the best choices for the money. It did not take long until I was hooked. I sold my starter set up and went back. Daniel and I gathered up 2 or 3 bows I was interested in. George and Daniel set them up and I shot them till I could make a decision. I had my heart set on one brand but after shooting them I changed my mind. Mathews was the bow for me. So then Daniel and I set out to pick and choose all the accessories I wanted to make this best set up! So if you are looking for the best shop in town. Go to AHQ and see Randy, George, Daniel, Adam or JR. They are the best in town.
