How did we come to know the Good News of Jesus Christ, and how does that influence evangelism? Join +Ethan Longhenry as he discusses these matters:

– Witness is a prevalent theme throughout the preaching of the Gospel
– All of us believe in Christ based on Apostolic witness and testimony
– Testifying is not “telling them what God has done in your life”; we must bear witness to the Apostolic witness regarding what God has done through Jesus (cf. John 20:30-31).
– We must know from where we have learned the Gospel so that we can simultaneously (a) be aware of our own biases, emphases, reactions, etc., and (b) be able to empathize with those with whom we share the Gospel.

Why should Christians tell others the good news of Jesus Christ?  Join +Ethan Longhenry as we explore the reasons why from Scripture and what it means in practice.

1. The Lord commanded us (Matthew 28:18-20)
2. We are not to be ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16).
3. We must love our neighbor as ourselves (Luke 10:27-39).

In this most recent edition of the Making the Word Known podcast, we explore the Good News of Jesus Christ.  After all, how can we promote the Gospel if we do not know what the Gospel is?

1. Jesus’ life (Matthew 5:17-18, Mark 1:1, John 1:1, 14, etc.)
2. Jesus’ death (Matthew 20:28, John 1:29, Romans 5:6-11, 2 Corinthians 5:21)
3. Jesus’ resurrection (Luke 24:1-53, Acts 2:14-36, 17:30-31, 1 Corinthians 15:1-58)
4. Jesus’ ascension/lordship (Daniel 7:13-14, Matthew 26:64, Acts 2:36, 7:55-56)
5. Jesus’ return (Matthew 25:1-41, Acts 17:30-31, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:11, 2 Peter 3:1-13, Revelation 20:11-22:6).

The Kingdom and the church are related concepts, but they are not the same in every respect. How we view our responsibility in the Kingdom may well influence if or how we evangelize. This edition of the Making the Word Known podcast discusses the nature of the Kingdom, its relationship to the church, and how evangelism is Kingdom work!

What is really important? What, in the end, really is not as important? These are important issues as we approach evangelism: we need to focus on what God in Christ would emphasize, and not allow minor issues to take over. Join us as we discuss the importance of proper focus!
