David Wong: I am in the process of getting a 5 unit implant supported Dental Bridge. There are 3 implant supported crowns at tooth #12, 13 and 22; with 2 pontics at tooth # 11 and 21 - giving the 5 unit bridge.
I have a temporary bridge at the moment, before the permanent bridge is made.
The problem is that I am experiencing is the following - there is a bad smell from the "gaps" between the crowns and the gum line ie. fluids/liquid food can seep into the abutments. Is this normal and acceptable? What can be done?
I am concerned with gum disease and peri-implantitis in the long term which could result in implant failure.
