Engine Knocks Have Many Meanings. If you think you hear your engine knocking, don’t ignore it. Noise from the engine—whether pings or thuds—usually requires attention. Late model vehicles can compensate for minor issues, but major problems and older vehicles cannot be cured by a sensor. A number of issues can cause engine knocking, some as simple as the wrong fuel or spark plugs, but the noise should never be ignored. If you hear odd engine noises, schedule an appointment as soon as you can. You’ll reduce the chance of long term or extensive damage.

Back to school can be financially tough for everyone, from parents dealing with their children’s back to school needs to adult students shouldering the cost of college. These added expenses often come with an extra daily commute as well, which is why it’s especially important to ensure your loved ones will be safe on the road. If you know anyone with a school commute this fall, consider a car care gift certificate. It can be used for anything from maintenance to repairs. Think of it as a thoughtful gesture that can help pave the road to their academic success.

Steering

Is your car steering you wrong? One of the more obvious signs of a failed power steering pump is difficulty maneuvering, but a slow leak can be harder to detect. Damage or problems with the steering system can spread quickly so we’ll check the related belts, hoses, and fluids to ensure the problem is contained. Car Security System

Is your vehicle’s anti-theft system causing alarm? After market kits in particular can cause problems, especially if they weren’t professionally installed. Because these alarms tie into the vehicle’s electrical grid, an installer who isn’t familiar with a vehicle’s computer system may inadvertently set you up for false alarms and problems starting. Avoid the potential for alarm—if your vehicle’s security system is unpredictable, or if you’d like a brand new security system installed, one of our experienced technicians will ensure it’s done right.

Fuel Injection Maintenance

If your fuel-injected vehicle isn’t idling properly, and the overall performance seems to be suffering, it may be time to have your vehicle’s throttle body serviced, especially if you’ve let overall maintenance slide. The throttle body is a magnet for carbon and engine sludge, both of which can build up and affect ignition and engine idle. Take the first step toward enjoying better acceleration and a smoother idle by telling us about your car’s symptoms. We’ll work together to ensure you have a more enjoyable and reliable ride.

Vehicle Electronics and Wiring

Remote key-less entry systems can be a great convenience, but only if they’re working properly. If an erratic wireless key lock makes getting into your car easily a hit or miss proposition, the problem could simply be a failing battery. If that doesn’t resolve the problem, it’s time to check the wiring and electronic components, especially if the remote entry system was not professionally installed. If your keyless entry system is giving you trouble, our certified technicians will be happy to lend a hand.

Slipping Clutch

You may be the master of your manual transmission, but clutch problems can come on so gradually you may not even notice them. If the pedal feels spongy or you’re having trouble shifting, it may be time to take a close look at the clutch. Slipping gears and strange noises while operating or releasing the clutch pedal are also indicators of possible trouble. Next time you’re driving, pay close attention to your clutch. If it’s speaking to you, it’s time to schedule an appointment.
