I have started a community for my local genealogical society. I would like to add some files (not photos), but I am not sure how to. Would I need to save the file on Google Drive and then create a link back to the community? Do people need to request permission to view the files individually, or can I create a special folder with blanket permission?

You need to make sure your Google Drive files are for "anyone who has the link" or "public" otherwise when a person clicks on the link you provide in the Community (or anywhere else for that matter), he will receive a message that he must ask permission to view the item.

I just attended Cousin Russ' presentation on Find A Grave. Even though I use Find A Grave on a regular basis, I learned a lot about the "lesser know" (but no less important) features! Thanks Russ!

When I get the time I must make a start on our village churchyard. It does not even have a cemetery page.

I just found out that Genealogy Standards (the BCG's 50th Anniversary Edition) can be ordered from Maia's Books for $11.95 until 27 Jan 2014. It is one of the required textbooks for the Boston University class.
