Google Plus is an identity service at heart. By creating a Profile, or Page you're essentially signaling to Google that this how you want to be known as.

Content Strategies: Horizontal vs. Vertical

When you post content that's exclusively about your nonprofit or business, you are approaching your audience vertically. When you approach them horizontally, you acknowledge that they are people first, with various different interests outside your vertical.

You need to do both in order to grow a real community.
