Today I am flying to Japan. I have been there two other times, so this will be my third workshop there. Arthur Morris will be doing one in 2017 so I will be doing one in 2018 with Paul McKenzie. This is all part of Artie and I going our separate ways and me spreading my wings :) .

After one of the most productive and fun workshops that I have ever conducted I am extremely happy to announce the 2017 Dalmatian Pelican Workshop in Greece. My last trip was filled with so many great photo opportunities from both the shore and from a small boat on Lake Kerkini.

I will be flying out of JFK airport today heading to Greece on Turkish Airlines. I have a layover in Istanbul. I am meeting up with one of the participants on the workshop. We both decided to leave a day early in order to miss the big snowstorm that is headed towards the Northeast.

Every once in a while an image will catch your eye and you will go back to it over and over again. That is what happened with this one. I could see myself sketching it so I decided to use Fractalius, my old go -to program to help me create the sketched look. Fractalius, is a Windows only ...

I am always getting asked how to change out a sky or extract a subject from a background. In my recent 10 Photoshop Quick Tips File (available for $10.00) one of the techniques that I cover is titled “Changing Out a Sky”. Using the settings that I provided in that file I extracted the cormorant ...

As we start our way into the New Year I want to share some of my thoughts about photography… For me it is everything. I am going through withdrawals as I haven't shot anything in over a week. I have viewed 100's of other people's photos as a way to feel connected to the medium.

To create the look above I started by photographing a bunch of tulips on my Lightpad. I arranged them in a random order. I used my ArtoGraph brand Lightpad approximately 8×10 inches. You can buy one on Amazon, just watch because the price fluctuates. Also you could use an old film Light box.

Image © 2016/Denise Ippolito Photography. I can't believe how many times I've used the word spectacular during my photography workshop in Greece. We have been blessed with perfect weather conditions. As some of you may know I left a day early to avoid flight delays due to a severe winter storm ...

The little girl photographed above was sitting on the beach with gulls all around her. She had sand all over her but she looked adorable. I wanted to share what I saw “with my eyes”when I initially shot the picture. It of course did not look exactly like that SOOC. I added an ethereal look to ...

Introduction

I am a full time professional photographer, workshop leader, and artist living in New Jersey. One of my recent (of many) eBooks is Bloomin' Ideas. It features 55 of my evocative flower images that represent my unique way of blending art and nature. I travel extensively presenting slide lectures and seminars and teaching photography and Photoshop. My workshops feature a variety of subjects including: avian, flower, urbex and HDR photography. I was a moderator for Bird Photographers Net in the Out-of-the-Box Forum for 4 years where I worked helping participants improve their images using innovative techniques done either in-camera or during post-processing.

In 2010 and again in 2014 I received a Highly Honored award in the prestigious Windland Smith Rice Nature's Best competition. Also in 2014 one of my images was selected as part of the People's Choice Awards Top 50 Images in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. In 2015 I won the Art in Nature Category in the Windland Smith Rice Nature's Best competition.  I have also won several PSA (Photographic Society of America) awards. My images have been published in magazines and books, sold as greeting cards, calendars and most recently featured in a Sierra Club Documentary.
