From what I've gathered reading arguments about vaccines: Vaccines are part of a vast international conspiracy designed by a cabal of scientists to prolong the average lifespan from 46 (life expectancy in the USA in the early 1900s) to over 80 years of age; additionally, this conspiracy involves a planned genocide of measles, mumps, smallpox, and various other micro-organisms -- this conspiracy has already succeeded in most developed countries (where life expectancy is now well over 80), but there is some awareness/rebellion to this conspiracy which aims to get human lifespan right back to its "natural" age of 46 (and restore these once nearly extinct viruses).

Planning to go to Phoenix, AZ to help my Mom sell her house. Good timing Mom, I was just starting to forget what 120f (48c) feels like-- and, umm, cacti, and uhh nice sunsets :) But it is always exciting to revisit my foresaken childhood home, visiting family, discovering what's changed, remembering why I left..

I've been trying to avoid the inevitable SF to NY comparisons -- all else being equal it seems to come down to deciding between unreliable buses versus reliable subways that smells of rancid urine (that's you NY)

absolutely loving the new Google Maps preview, especially with a touchscreen -- it's hard to go back to the classic interface

Google I/O -- similar to most developer-centric conferences the gender ratio amongst attendees is somewhere in the 100:1 ballpark -- women aren't just underrepresented but ostensibly absent. On one hand, the long lines for the men's room is an annoyance -- on the other hand I feel that such a skewed ratio represents a pervasive and systematic discrimination that I have no idea how to make sense of, no wonder it's difficult for companies to hire talented engineers when 50% of the population is absent.
