Dear all,

On behalf of Igor:

At NTNU there are now 7 openings for PhD and postdoc positions (related to the Norwegian research centre on Zero Emission Neighbourhoods in Smart Cities):
https://www.jobbnorge.no/ledige-stillinger/stilling/132338/phd-and-postdoctoral-positions-in-research-centre-on-zero-emission-neighbourhoods-in-smart-cities-norges-teknisk-naturvitenskapelige-universitet

This is good news! The better news is that later in February 5-6 additional positions will be announced, including 2 that are more "spicy" for the Annex 67 topics of energy flexibility. I will let you know, of course, but just in case keep an open eye on the NTNU openings in the near future: Zero Emission Neighbourhoods is the keyword :)

Best regards,
Igor

CITIES mentionet as one of the players in the Internet of Things area - This is impressive having not even started the focus area of this topic: http://www.dr.dk/nyheder/viden/tech/london-goer-klar-til-stort-forsoeg-med-internet-things

CITIES Workshop on "Value creation by use of smart city data"

Date: Thursday, 12 January, 2017
Location: AffaldVarme Aarhus (AVA) or other location in Aarhus (to be decided - See CITIES homepage: http://smart-cities-centre.org/)

There is an immense interest in the information contained within data from operation of district energy systems. Such data comprise consumption data from individual users as well as other network data. The data have big interest for operators because of the huge value associated with the optimal management of a secure delivery to all consumers in response to the very dynamic situation for supply and demand. The data are also of great interest to researchers who will study and develop models for intelligent operation of the integrated energy system. Thus, data and its proper management has become an important asset in communities, but its handling also needs to be done in a proper way that respects issues of privacy and business confidentiality. Data management, and its form of representation is of great interest to a wide range of stakeholders involved in smart city development. We will discuss these issues at the workshop and see specific examples of data use in smart city operation and research.

Tentative program:
10:00 – 11:45 An overview of data. What is there, its use (value creation) and availability
- with some 4-5 speakers representing cities/utility companies and the CITIES project
11:45 – 12:30 Use of personal data – legal conditions
12.30-13:15 Lunch
13:15 Site visit to an AVA facility
13:45 Examples of specific use of data
- with some 5 to 6 speakers representing stakeholders and researchers
15:30 – 16:00 Discussion and Closure
