Origination Story:
Thank you for taking the time to read the story behind "Photos from Home Project". I would first like to introduce myself. My name is Lindsey Snyder and I have been a professional photographer for the past 8 years. Through my camera lens, I have witnessed more of life's beauty than I ever imagined possible. And about a year and a half ago, my photography came to a standstill. I stopped taking on new jobs and new clients, but there has been a very good reason as to why. For over a year now, I have been working very hard on a special project called "Photos from Home Project".

One night, a year and half ago, I was sitting at home looking through photographs of a family that were clients of mine. The wife, husband, and four kids were picture perfect. Earlier that day, we went to the park to take family photos. As I was taking shots of the four kids playing with their father, the mother came up to me and said, "He won't get to do this for much longer, he's being deployed for eight months." It hadn't dawned on me at that exact moment, what that truly meant to that family. But I could see the look on the mother's face; the look of admiration for her husband, the look of love for her children, and the look of the sad realization that she wouldn't get to see her husband, the father of her children, for eight months. You could see the realization that her children would be missing a father for eight months. But what was worse, that father and husband, would be deployed overseas without any true connection to his wife or children for all of those months. He would miss his oldest son graduate high school. He would miss his youngest son's first day at middle school. He would miss his daughter's first prom, and his oldest son's last prom. He would miss his wife's first day at her new job. He would miss the first step his family took into their home, a home he wouldn't have the ability to live in for eight months. That man, with a wife and four children, would be serving to defend our country for eight months, and would be missing a lot of important life events. And that devastated me. I have witnessed this happened time and time again, and I needed to do something to fix this.

We know that some of our military members are lucky to have Skype and the occasional phone call or email, but not all of them and not all the time. And what about those important life events similar to the ones above? Our military members miss more of these than anyone could ever realize. Their five-year-old only turns five once, their one year old only takes its first steps once, their eighteen year old daughter only graduates high school once, and this could be the year their son finally has a serious date to his last prom. These things may not seem like huge events to some, but to those who are deployed, they are missed opportunities to witness something beautiful happen for their family. Serving our country is a job, a job that doesn't promise a tomorrow, a job that requires a lot of life to be risked. So why should our service members miss out on any of these important life events, due to their job of our defending our country? They shouldn't.

As the founder and president of “Photos from Home Project” I can’t promise that I will bring your family members home and I can’t promise that they will physically be there for all of these important life events, but what I can promise is to send those important life events straight to your family members deployed overseas. "Photos from Home Project" is a nonprofit organization that benefits military families by offering those with deployed parents and/or family members the opportunity to witness important life events and precious moments that would be missed due to their absence with serving our country.

A year and a half ago "Photos from Home Project" was only be a dream that I developed but now it is more than that. I started this non-profit from scratch. I have worked eighty (80) hours a week for the past year and half, to make this dream of mine a reality to those who matter. This isn't about fame or recognition; this is about making a difference to those who think that no one understands. I understand, our company understands, and we are here to help.

Thank you again for taking the time to read. We are currently only operational in South Carolina, but hopefully we will be able to expand as soon as we have the ability.
