It's shockingly easy to get worldwide attention with a totally bogus study. Simple recipe: measure 20 variables in a small sample group, and it's likely that one of them will "win the lottery" and seem statistically significant. Nice job demonstrating this.
“Slim by Chocolate!” the headlines blared. A team of German researchers had found that people on a low-carb diet lost weight 10 percent faster if they ate a chocolate bar every day. It made the front page of Bild, Europe’s largest daily newspaper, just beneath their update about the Germanwings crash. From there, it ricocheted around the internet and beyond, making news in more than 20 countries and half a dozen languages. It was discussed on tel...

This guy has been saying some stupid stuff lately, but now this is too much. I am not sure he believes in these values himself or is being controlled by RSS.

This is exactly the kind of language which scared me of the consequences of a BJP majority government...to be fair there are ignorant people on both sides of the table...but at least congress doesn't have to push the RSS agenda.

I was a staunch Modi hater. I remembers reading news papers during Gujarat riots and giving up reading them as I felt depressed.

But something changed during last few months, most of my friends are strong Modi supporters. They convinced me that most things I have read about Modi, even during the riots time is creation of main stream media and Modi is actually innocent, true nationalist.

Then again I read today one of Modi's 2002 speech and I am back to the square one.

http://www.cjponline.org/hatespmodi/CM%20SPEECH-BECHARJI[TEXT%7D.pdf

I do not believe Modi is a good Prime ministerial candidate. If he became Prime minister, it will divide India. I also doubt how genuine Modi's development claims are, he has a great PR department, run by mckinsey consultants. I did not find a good unbiased article comparing Gujarat development vs rest of India's development.

Obviously congress is worse and should not be given another chance but that does not mean Modi should become Prime minister. I hope Aam Aadami Party wins significant number of seats in next Loksabha election and give a good third alternative.

Positive points:
- Extremely smart politician, possesses the necessary skills to keep his ministers in line and make things happen in the messed up behemoth that is the Indian government and bureaucracy.
- Has one of the best understandings of PR. Prepare to see Indian government's PR machinery matching that of China's with Modi at its helm.

Negative points:
- A little bit of research in Gujarat's political history will tell you that the 2002 riots were not a sudden occurrence, but the culmination of decades of communal manipulation by BJP/RSS and Modi was at the heart of it (even if you take the view that they didn't directly intend to cause mass murder).
- Surely Gujarat has well-developed roads and attracts industry by most accounts, but there are a worrying number of reports showing increasing ghetto-ization and the dismal state of the (large) minority.

Now to me Modi seems like a shrewd politician who used the communal path because it was probably the easiest way to rise to power in Gujarat's social climate, rather than someone who is actually fanatic/fascist (a la Praveen Togadia). He also doesn't seem to be motivated by money, but rather by raw power. But it shows the extent to which he will go to attain it. So it basically boils down to whether you would choose a very capable person who however has no conscience as your PM. Given the general dire state of our country's governance thanks to the Congress mismanagement, I think BJP will get close to (if not a) majority this election and Modi will get his chance to be PM. But a strong and vigilant opposition which honestly cares for the people (hopefully AAP could fill this role) would be ideal to keep him in check, so let's not all vote for him.
